$15.5K for 2003 maxima se?

I'm looking for used but nice maxima and found a 2003 max SE Automatic, Silver exterior and cream interior, cloth seats, moonroof, etc. it has 18K mi and it's going for $15500, the seller initially asked for $16K and wouldn't back down the price any lower than $15500, the car is in excellent condition, well maintained and garage kept, clean tittle (carfax), very sharp looking car. I'm wondering if this is a good price?

I'm guessing you already did the research, correct?

www.kbb.com
www.nada.com
www.edmunds.com

Nice miles, but I wouldn't pay that much for a 4yr old car.

Yes I did a search on those sites, basically he is selling his max a few hundred more than the kbb suggested private party price, and $2.5K higher than edmund's TMV price. I intend to keep this car for a long time thats why i'm looking for a low mileage, i can't get any deal like this from nissan dealers in this area.

Is there anything that I should be look out for, or aware of on 2003 model?

Doesn't sound like too bad of a deal then, especially if you are valueing the mileage...

Well, that's kind of general question which is asked by everyone (and should be in the FAQ's IMHO):

-Oil-burning (a problem that can develop over time, not sure if that car with low miles would suffer yet).
-Warped rotors
-1st geat-2nd gear transmission slippage.

Seems like a really good deal to me. I just bought my 03 SE 6 speed with 39K miles in March and I paid $17,500 for it.

This car is out of bumber to bumper warranty (more than 3 years). You may have few months (to a year+) left on the 5 year/60K mile power terrain warranty - just something to keep in mind.

Well if it's any comparison, I just bought my 2002 Leather loaded except for seat heaters and traction with 73,000 Mi for 13,6 at a dealership.

I wouldn't bite on that one. Many cheaper options considering the options listed. Mileage is something to consider, but it shouldn't be the main one. There are many members with over 100k (including me) without major problems.

I think the deal is pretty good. I bought a 03 SE Titanium edition, every option except Nav. It had the equal of 47,500 miles. Vehicle history was great everything was done all records and services. I just needed to do tranny flush and will be adding new tires soon. I paid about 15,700 US calculated as I am in Canada. No issue with any oil burning at all and I now have 51K on the car running Mobil 1 for the next 5K then on to the Esso XD3 0W30 and I will OIC at 8-10K

I wouldn't entertain anything over 14K at this point, no matter what miles. I have 132k on my car and aside from some expected maintenance, and stupid chips in the paint, I'd pay my own asking price If i were selling it right now.

This may be comparing apples to oranges but i just recently bought a '00 SE with every option available including heated seats, spoiler, sunroof, etc. with 95k miles, interior is in excellent condition, exterior in good condition for 6500 dollars. I did have to replace the IACV but........ i only have 6700 into the car.

Thats a great deal you got however he is talking about an 03, 2000 has 3.0 litre motor correct? Not that that would justify double the cost ..

If you are looking for a reliable car with low milage, and you want to keep it for a long time, and you've found it, BUY IT! Spend the extra $1000-2000

I got a 2002 with 125k for 7,900. Fully loaded black leather and 6spd.

So, there is always going to be a better deal somewhere. If its worth it to you and you know its been maintained good go for it. But if you rush into a decision you usually regret it. I wait, and wait, and wait, and then decide and get a good deal. Catch 22, I wait a while and get exhausted searching.

My advice is know exactly what you want and look for it. I knew I wanted 6spd with black leather and thats what I held out for, and didn't compromise with auto and cloth. I just got super lucky with the price.

2k1 SE auto, cloth, 61000 miles, $7900

i debated on the whole auto vs stick issue but i had to weigh my options

1.) I could research on here all day but I didn't have any in person experience with a stick maxima at the time
2.) I drive through a sh%t load of traffic going to work at the time (driving from central NJ to the Lincoln Tunnel is NOT fun in rush hour)

I think its a good deal. Go for it. I def. agree its worth it to wait and find the right car your looking for and its worth it if you have to drive a ways to get her. I waited 6 months and drove 4 hours to get mine. I would have tripled that in driving time if i had to. Just my 2 cents.

I still think i got you all beat. Got mine right about 2 years ago (June 05). 03 SE TE 6 speed HLSD every option minus navi. 26k miles for 16,900.

I agree this is the correct advice. $1,000 - $2000 doesn't make a big difference if you keep the car for a long time. If you like the way it looks and you are happy with options then this is the car for you.

We now have over 70K on our 03 SE and are very happy with the performance and maint on the car.

14K for a car with only 18K miles? I'd go for it.

Crazy low mileage. I bought my car over two years ago with almost double the miles. I say if everything checks out and you can lower the price a bit, go for it.
