Has anyone had this problem?
I haven't installed my y-pipe yet, but my mechanic was pointing out to me that this may be an issued. Because of how the OBD2 system works and that one cat will be removed, this may cause the check engine light to come on.
Is this true?
Thanks guys!

If there were no one has been posting. I just installed my Y-pipe a last week and no engine light. Just make sure that you do not touch the tip of the sensor or get any anit-seize on the sensor tip..then you will have problems. The anit-seize is for the threads so the sensor will come out easier if you decide to get rid of the Y-pipe(sell it). Good luck!

no check engine lights here.... as long as the O2 sensors are in place and working properly, you will be fine...

Final Destination

I am installing mine this weekend, hopefuly. By the looks of the UPS info, that it will be going to it's final destination today. It only took 20 days from the day I ordered it. Bah, damn back orders. I am devoting my entire Saturday for the install. And if I still can't do it, time to make an emrgency run to the muffler shop for them to do it.

had it checked by the dealer when my light went on. he said that the computer reads that it's an exhaust problem (y-pipe having no pre-cat). he reset the light, but said it would go back on. eventually it will turn off (i believe the max takes about 35 to 40 key cycles. it did eventually go off. it came back on when i put in the stillen hi-flow intake (and it kept going on, then off, then on, then off, until it eventually just stayed off). i don't worry too much about the light if i know what's causing it, because i knew it would eventually turn off as the mechanic said.

btw, i have a 2k SE

if the light is triggered by the y-pipe install, it is most likely the rear O2 sensors which are not reading something good. Those just check for the presence of emissions equipment and are used as back up sensors for adjusting A/F ratio. A check engine light caused by these will not hurt engine performance.

Looks like there are different experiences for different people. I did not have any problems when I put in my Cattman CAI... no engine lights went on. For those who will be tackling the y-pipe install this weekend, please keep me updated on your outcome guys, thanks. Good luck guys and have fun! I may not wait for my friend's help and attempt to install it this Sunday.

it's a bit of a tough job all alone. An extra set of hands will be good to have.

people have reported gains of 10-15 hp at the wheels with a y-pipe when coupled with an intake.

Hmmmm. More like 20 hp when coupled with an intake, UMD_MaxSE. The Y-pipe is good for 10 - 12 hp at the wheels all by itself.

BTW, no check engine light here following my Y-pipe install . . . at least not yet.

Probably....but an intake won't make a huge difference on a dyno especially if it is a CAI....
