Sway Bar Bushings

Now i could have sworn our cars use 23mm bushings. But when i went to Purchase them from http://www.energysuspensionparts.com

they had two parts listed:

1) the 23mm sway bar ES bushings (7.5125)

2) the 22mm sway bar ES bushings (7.5124)

My question is. Which part is the one that fits on a 2k1 5th gen? 1mm could mean the difference between too much play. I couldnt even find out what size the OEM bushings are.

Thanks for an assist

I made that mistake already. I ordered a set of 23mm bushings and they were to big so I gave them to a friend and ordered the correct 22mm bushings.

Wrong!
My 2000 SE has a 23mm bar.....stock. Measured them with vernier calipers before I bought the bushings, just to be sure.
Looks like you got stuck with a re-badged GLE

as you can see.....it fits correctly

Wrong per my car and Dave Burnette.

My 23mm bushings looked like they fit properly but the 22's fit better.

edit: when you replaced yours did you read what the stock bushing said? Mine clearly said 22

I don't recall them saying anything on them, and I usually look at old parts pretty close to see the wear patterns on them (my old bushings were beat to hell)

but that's the reason I measured them with my engineering calipers, because there was alot of so-called "authoritative" information out there that was conflicting at the time. We measured mine at (IIRC) 23.2mm and also measured someone else's (soonerfan's, I think) GXE which was 21.9 or 22mm....

clearly, though, it doesn't really matter much I guess....

i wonder if it was a mid-year change for the 2000 SE perhaps - around the time they changed from the 5-spoke se 16" wheels to the 6-spoke 17" wheels

well. . .okay then. . . did stardust get his car used? or new? it could always be a parts bin snafu. Still seems like the information i gave was accurate in the case of Trurida. . . if non-SEs have 22mm, then whether they made a manufacturing change or a boo-boo on the 2000SEs, i think him needing the 22mm bushing wouldn't change?

Somewhat related question to all that have these, is it a noticeable difference? Were the OEMs you had in bad shape?

Yeah, by looking at the pictures they don't seem to that bad. Looking at the first picture in the thread, they seem to have a tight fit.

On that note a related question, to slide the bushings the upper sway bar link end has to be disconnected and pushed in.., right?.

No, all you need to do is put a jack under the control arm and lift it.

Got it. In short, the bushing itself is not one solid piece and does have a slit in the middle that once stretched it goes over the bar.

^^ could be a number of reasons, maybe they are not hosting it, maybe they dont want to open up a BRAND new set of bushings, or maybe they are just a reseller, WHO dont have the product AT hand, the reasons could be endless..

I wouldn't buy from a website not know what I am getting into... There are many other websites that carry detailed accurate pictures, I would just shop there.

Urethane bushings quicken the response somewhat. Less bushing compression allows the anti-roll bars to do their job more quickly. If you do the D bushings, definitely do the end links too.
