what wire to tap into?
Hey quick question,
I have 2 blue led light bars I wanted to install in my car (not for ricer reasons, i have a blue light permit for my car from the fire department). They didn't come with any directions or instructions because I bought them from another guy in the dept. He told me to just tap into any power wire.
So i spliced the 2 light bars together, Put a switch on the power wire, but I just can't find a good place to tap into. The ground is not a big problem because I can ground it anywhere, it's just that I cant seem to find a good location to tap into a power wire. Anyone have any suggestions, I was thinking tapping into the cigarrette lighter wire, but that would require me to take off the center console, is there an easier/better location?
Any help would be appriciated.

go to the parts store and buy a fuse tap. use a test light and open up your fuse box under the dash. figure out if you want the lights to come on with acc. or constant power. figure out which use you want to use pull it out push in the fuse tap put the fuse you pulled out of the box into the fuse tap and youe power wire coming from your lights crimp that onto the fuse tap there will already be a butt connector on the fuse tap.
If you want the lights to come on with the accessories, you can just tap into the cigarette lighter wire. That's what I did for my radar detector (that I haven't used in months...
). It shouldn't draw too much current...

you only need to take out the shifter trim, very easy to do.
