Hi guys.

Just in case you guys didnt realize it...All of you who are modding up your cars with superchargers, shocks, etc etc, are just wasting money.

ALL CARS DEPRECIATE!!!

There are much better things to put your hard earned cash into.

such as...

1) Your Lady (or Guy...whatever your preference)
2) Bank
3) College Fund
4) Roth IRA
5) Charles Schwab or Mutual Portfolio
6) Stocks (they are very low right now...get them before the lowered interest rates really kick in)
7) did I say Stocks?
8) oh yeh! can't forget stocks

(---===Because I save 35% of my pay and place into various funds, accounts, etc...I will have and estimated 12.5 million for retirement by the age of 50..which means a 2 million dolla house, and 10 million worth of cars and planes===---)

!!! just started saying this stuff afer realizing how much cash I dished out on the damn car...!!!

OK! FLAME ME NOW!!!

It's BARBEQUE TIME!

But what if you die at 49

Then you wasted alot of fun years to just leave the money to someone else ...

But I agree with you to a point. yeah they depriciate, but I like to enjoy them while I can.

You really only have to please one person in this world and that is yourself.

If you want to put it in stocks and see the market crash go right ahead. If you want to put you money into your car and see it depreciate go right ahead.

things

Number one, yes, most of us know cars are a bad investment. We don't do it as an investment. We do it because we love it. It's our hobby, our passion, etc.

I have other things I invest in that are just that - investments for the future. But the car is just a toy, a fun one.

All cars do lose value but if you mod them real nice and unique in 10-20 years you can get alot of money for them. Look at the shelby gt500 went for 3000 in 67 now 70,000.

This is what someone who spent 10k on audio/video would say!

BTW, Maine, how come I dont see your car on SCC? Is it like a feature car or just a little page summary in reader's ride?

who says that you can't mod your car and invest your money in other things? I put money away in a 401K, Roth IRA, and stocks. Modding is just a hobby that I spend only some of my money on at a time. But you are correct in saying that cars depreciate. No one will argue with that.

curious

Did anyone here claim that having a car-based hobby was a "wise investment?" I mean what precipitated this thread exactly?

True, but obvious. Hopefully none of us are stupid enough to put all of our extra, should be saving/investing funds, into mods.

There's one fact that hasn't been stated. When you die, you can't take it with you. Not the money, not the house, and sadly not the car. But between now and then, we'll be driving some Awesome Maxima's.

the sad thing is that's not true. I bet a lot of guys on here blow all their extra money on mods, and don't put ANYTHING away for the future

Aren't you wasting your money?

Why did you buy a Maxima when you could have bought a Civic...or even a POS '93 Ford Escort and throw the money saved into some investments?
