hey guys. recently when i turn on the car it sounds really loud and the engine shutters. it is also loud when i'm driving below 3k rpm. could this be a sign of a bad motor mount? i have a 2k2 with 68k miles.

any input would be appreciated. thanks!

 

if the engine shutters at low rpm thats usually a sign of a cylinder is misfiring

 

above 3k the car is smooth and like normal?

It might help to get the computer scanned for any trouble codes, or check the exhaust system to make sure there are no leaks. One or more of your ignition coils might be bad. It could also be a fuel injector problem too. Make sure there's good-quality, fresh premium gas in there, and don't run your car with the gas tank at 1/4 or lower.

 

thanks guys for the quick responces. there is no cel. above 3k it seems to be fine. i use premium fuel all the time.

 

last week I was doing some work on my car and I disconnected the harness to cyl1 coil pack and forgot to connect it back when I was all done

... when I went for the test drive i started the car and the engine was shaking, felt like crap backing out the driveway, was jerky up to about 3000... my CEL was blinking at that point but my coil pack was completely disconnected....

 

well the engine shakes a little only on start up. and then it sounds louder at idle up to when i acelerate around 2-3k rpm. it is louder when i'm cruzing at highway speeds around the same rpm range... if i have a leak in the exaust shouldn't i loose some power? cause i don't feel any power loss...

what would the symptoms of bad motor mounts be? cause i remember my friends car getting alot louder when his motor mounts went bad.
