The rumor coming from Freshalloy. If true, this is a HUGE step for Nissan. Get ready for some wicked Nissan cars!.

Well, IF it is true, don't know if I believe it, but that would be good. I never understood why they didn't work with the NA cars, sure they're not as performance oriented overall as the skyline and silvia and whatnot, but they make parts for the sentra and frontier...but not the flagship? I dunno, didn't seem to make sense, would be nice, but we'll have to see...

Well since NISMO stands for Nissan Motorsports, it makes perfect sense. As far as I know, there is not factory NISSAN backed Maximas that I know of. Therefore almost nothing from Nismo available for the Maxima. It's pity though. If the VQ was was used in something else that Nissan used to race, then it would stand a good chance to have cams, intakes, rods, pistons etc.. available.

Sorta. As far as I know, Nissan Motorsports doesn't go out of it's way to produce smog legal mods. AMG, Mugen, TRD, and others develope mods with emissions in minds. Nismo is just, "we will sell it to you but if it's illegal for the street, that's your problem".
