Ok, I went to prestage.com and used some of their car math since i was very unhappy with my times i ran last wednesday. Well, when I adjusted my 16.056 @ 85.61 for altitude (roughly 300 ft above sealevel) it came out to 15.99 @ 85.97, thats a little better. However, I know that temp can be a big factor too. So I plugged it into the formula and corrected for 29.8 barometer and 88 deg temp and voila! 15.86 @ 86.63, now thats more like it. God I'm a stud....

This post was 95% joking BTW, no flames...

The owner told me that the track is 500 ft above sea level.

Not necessarily a joke. (Unless you're talking about the 'stud' part, but I digress...) Car and Driver not only agressively drives it's cars, but also adjusts for sea level. How else can you do any real comparisons?

(I'd be interesting to know what people, say in Denver or Steamboat Springs, run the 1/4 in. Turbo's/SC's don't count.)

I'm not that sure about the temp/pressure adjustment though. Look's like you might be reaching on that one...

go to www.prestage.com and on the menu on the left near the bottom is the car math section. In there they have all kinds of formulas and stuff. the altitude I kind of jerry rigged cuz the lowest they go is like 1100 ft. and st. louis is like 300ish, but I noticed that for altitude they just subtracted .0013 every hundred ft. for the et multiplier and added .0014 every hundred ft. for the mph multiplier.

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

Look at this:

Weight: 3245
Horsepower at the wheels: 270

Estimated 1/4 mile ET: 13.33
Estimated 1/4 mile MPH: 102.24

I wish...

well, you weigh more than 3245, thats like stock curb weight for an automatic 5th gen. now, each gallon of gas in your car adds another 6 pounds or so. any mods and what not and any miscellaneous stuff in the car needs to be added. and then you have to add your weight. the time i ran i figured i was heavy with about 3487 lbs. between me, gas, and stuff in the car. Also, are you putting down 270 at the wheels, cuz if so, thats a-w-e-s-o-m-e! And those numbers do sound a little low for 270 fwhp and 3300 weight, but it seemed ok for me, it was almost dead on for my times, only a couplke tenths faster (might be cuz i sucked it up at the track).

Plus, i think they assume good launches, which from what i understand is real hard to do in a max. who has the best 60' on the .org?

BTW, gateway is in illinios near st. louis. i guess you thought i was running up at maxus but was unable to make the trip...

I think 13.3 is nuts considering the FWD automagic.

Well, it is configured more for a RWD setup race car kind of thing, but i understand what you're saying. What car runs 13.3 stock? corvette? that's like 350 hp at the crank, a little under 300 at the wheel. But if you're 260 at the wheel, that puts you more in z28 and trans-am league. those guys put down usually mid-high 13's. Now, up until you get really really fast FWD is usally easier to launch. I've noticed not many people here can't launch that well (might be the engine and intake design?). But, if you put on good rubber (slicks maybe), got a good torque converter (3500 or so), and practiced a lot, i would think you should be able to get 1.7-1.9 60' and low low 14's, maybe a dip into the 13s if the conditions are right. but, maybe i've just smoked to much of da chiba...

BTW, kev, i plugged in 270 fwhp and 3600 weight (with you and your mods (body kit and whatnot) and it came out to 13.8 @ 98, thats much more reasonable...

I believe SteveChicagoSC (SC'ed 4th gen with 3.25 pulley) ran 13.5. That number you posted sounds more reasonable.

This is a copy of an earlier post that I'd made. By following these steps you can convert your 1/4 mile times to standard conditions (60F / 0'elev).

This is the main site:

http://www.bgsoflex.com/etmphcorr.html

Try entering all of your information here. If you don't know the barometric pressure you'll need to go to the next two sites. The first one will calculate the nominal atm pressure (in psi) when you input your altitude and hit "calculate". The second site you'll need to convert from psi to inHg.

http://members.home.net/rabeveridge.../about_hc2.html

http://probrewer.com/tools/convert_pressure.html

Now just input your inHg pressure number into the first site and voila... you have your corrected numbers. Enjoy!
