U got an auto or 5spd?

5th gen #487: Be careful you don't need to close the trunk lid hard if you have a rear spoiler.

Auto

It's an auto not a 5spd, and the reason I didnt get an 2002 was because it was quite a bit expensive, to get a good deal I wouldve had to wait which i couldnt do because I needed a car fast. The only other option was to get a V6 Accord since I already have one of those I didnt want to get another one (too boring).

Congrats on the new ride man. You've made a very wise choice choosing a 5-Speed over and "Automagic". Also another wise choise choosing it over the V6 Accord (Sorry Stevtec). I would first reccomend a protector for the hood of some sort, I reccomend the Wind Deflector from www.summitracing.com since its cheap and looks awesome and won't damage the paint. If you prefer you can also get the authentic Nissan Bra, this is because paint on nissans is cheap!

Other than that nothing else, car is great, maxima.org gets addicting and soon youll be modding!

If you decide to mod then go on the handling first...it cost less and easier(FSTB,RSB)

Take it easy on the engine for 1k miles. Once you turn 1k change the oil. Oil from the factory is full of detergent treatments. After that find a V-6 accord and have it for lunch!!!

Welcome, and you will love this ride as much as we all do!!!

Welcome to the .org and congrats on your new toy. Don't worry about all the auto vs. 5spd BS, your auto will do you just fine, trust me. As for the mod bug, it bit me pretty quick being here. I went from bone stock to OSCAI, y-pipe, FSTB, and RSB in less than a month! 2 weeks after that, the UDP went in. But all of them were easily worth it, and that's reinforced every time I drive the car. Congrats and good luck!

Thanks

First of all I want to thank everyone that replied to my post, I took the maxima to seattle over the weekend, I am very impressed by it.

Secondly, BlackMax2k1 reccomends that I take it easy on the car for the first 1k miles, When I took the car to seattle, I kinda pushed the engine to see how fast it would take off and what kind of passing power I had. I have put about 400 Miles on the car, Do you think that I might have caused some damage to the engine?

Also the maxima has a huge front end, I am worried about the paint getting chipped so should I get a Nissan factory hood cover? or is there some better alternative?

1.) The engine needs the first 1000 miles in order to properly seat rings and such. The car can be driven hard during the first 1000 miles, but be willing to put up with decreased performance and gas milage, questionable reliability and other problems down the line. Seriously, take it easy.
2.)Check out something called a 'bugflector'. It is a small piece of smoked plastic that sits on the very front of the hood, and helps to reduce chips. There is also a 3M spray on prodct that puts an invisible film on, keeping paint chips down.

Well I have a 2K se Auto. Mechanically, no problems for 15 months and 9,000 miles.
Be carefull of the glass, it scatches easily. If you get tinted windows, don't cover the top dot matrix on the rear or you'll loose AM reception.
Put Lubeguard in both the power steering reservoir (now) and automatic at the first service in one year. It will shift much smoother. Go to synthetic oil in about 2,500 miles.
If you think the car rides too hard (I do) lowering the tire pressure to 29 psi does not cause side walls to wear and won't hurt the mileage very much.
Also, sick with the 92 octane gas. Medium grade will cost more in the long run as the the mileage drops and so does performance.
