I've seen quite a few questions about Y pipes lately and I have even asked one myself, but I wanted to know if anyone has had any problems with passing state emissions tests? I know standards differs from state to state, but I wanted to ask regardless. Will I have to find someone that passes just about anyone or will I be able to go anywhere and have no problem?

You shouldn't have a problem. The y-pipe removes one of the pre-cats, which is "illegal" but the pre-cat that is removed is there for when the car is running cold. you have to drive to a place to get emissions done anyway so your car will be warmed up. Now when combined with cat back exhausts and aftermarket b pipes, I am not so sure on how easy it will be to pass. Hope it helps.

You should have no problems with emissions. I had my car smogged 6 months ago (y-pipe, s/c, Greddy) in Cali and I passed w/o any problems. Just make sure the car is warmed up before it gets smogged.

The Y-pipe eliminates the precats. This is needed on cold start-ups. This is said for off-road use only. Once the car has been running for 10 mins, you will be fine. No emission problems at all.

The Stillen and Cattman Y pipes still leave behind one precat on the Cali spec versions.
