my plastic is 'badly' scratched. its not noticable at night, but when theirs a glare on it, all the scratches show up.

is their anything i can do to smooth these out, or a cover?

I would say take a picture of it going 140mph, then touch up in photoshop, print it out and then stick it on there...

Make multiple copies if you just happen to scratch that one too

Hehe...but seriously though...maybe try some very fine polish...it might help...but don't scratch it any further...or else big smear type scratches might show up...

The reason why it is scratched up is because when you clean it with a cloth. the plastic is really sensative so it scratches. you have to use the same type cloth used to clean glasses. but if its already scratched up you will have to replace the plastic. that is what im doing. but there isnt a way that i know of the fix the problem

I have it. I tried it on mine. No help.

I was actually thinking of making a trip to a junkyard and grabbing one. I need some interior trim pieces too..

Just FYI.

Go to a Harley Bike shop. They have a plasic cleaner/wax which is great on all plastic and even glasse, small arosol can, about $5.00
This should help some, but won't get all the scratches out.
It also reduces static, so the plastic stays cleaner longer.
Good Luck

replace?

How much is this part from nissan? It may be worth it if it is cheap, or bring it to a glass shop to get a custom one made? How easy is it to remove/replace?

Noooo

Don't use the swifter on the plastic!!!!

I think those sheet have a wax or some chemical that smears on the plastic. I made the same mistake of using one on the lens plastic and it looks hazy now. Use an old sock or t-shirt with a little water. That works the best with minimal scratches. I use a side to side swipe instead of the wax on - wax off motion that will highlight any imperfections.

My plastic cover came with DEEP scratches on it from the dealer. It bothers me everytime I look at them (being the **** person I am). I guess it was a package deal cause my passenger door had swirly hazy scratches above the door handle also.

LOL! that's funnny! OEM parts reasonably priced?? remember my bugger MAF sensor arms? (little plastic things i broke?)... $500!!! for plastic! okayokay, it's b/c you have to buy the entire part--MAF sensor + tube.

i just think a lot of those Genuine Nissan Parts are outrageously priced sometimes...
