Hi all,

I am a recent owner (about a week) of a 2000 Maxima SE, 5-speed manual transmission.
I've noticed starting from a standstill some vibration while I'm engaging the clutch into first gear. Once I'm in first, no problem. Transitions from first to second, second to third, etc., are all very smooth. Has anyone else had this problem, should I have the car checked, is this normal? The car only had 34 miles on it when I purchased it.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Dave

Mine did that as well to some extent, if yours is severe I would get it checked, but mine has gone away after about 1100 miles. Mine is a Y2K Sterling Mist 5 speed. Tint. MB Motoring mags, K&N filter so far. Will add cat-back soon.

its almost like a buzz (if you can feel a buzz it varies with throttle. Like getting a foot message. doesnt always do it. its only annoying because I know it shouldnt do it. I suspect its some exhaust mount resonating...

Hi, I have the same problem with my 2k2 maxima SE. Do you know what the cause of this vibration is? Thanks

I believe he was referring to clutch chatter...

I've been told by a long time Nissan mechanic that clutch chatter is notorious in the manual transmission Maximas.

I don't think it's possible to fix it, but I just put in Redline MT-90 and it seems to have improved a lot, like 50-75% better. I know the manual trans fluid has NOTHING to do with how the clutch/flywheel engage, so I'm still thinking it's all in my head. Hopefully, after some more driving I'll be able to convince myself it's still happening.
