Hey guys...I got my Zaino in a while ago and din't have time to post. Well the Zaino is nice but to tell you guys the honest truth after 5 coats I honestly don't see the difference in Zaino as when I was using Mothers...I have a sterling mist so maybe it could be becuase u guys using Zaino have darker cars.

Well anyway I dunno I'm out of wax and thinking I might switch back to Mothers, not being cheap just that I am poor! I was at costco today and I saw this ricer buying ZYMOL wax anyone hear about it.

And yes I did follow all of Sal's instructions!

Darker color paint = more dramatic

Regardless of what you are polishing your car
with, a darker color paint will show the shine
better. Nothing you can do about that.

Carnuba Wax = 1950's technology
Polymer based = 1990's technology

I understand that Mother's and Meguires also
make polymer-based polishes. Maybe they would
be easier on the wallet.

That was funny, Russ, but I agree. While the results may be less dramatic on lighter colored cars, there are still results to be seen.

in time

..the Zaino shine will outlast the other stuff..like in 3 to 6 months Zaino will still look the same as the day you applied it..not likely with the other brands
Zaino brought my Max through one of the most brutal winters ever, and was still amazingly clean and shiny in the spring when i washed it up

I used Zymol for the first time this weekend. I also bought it a Costco. I have seen other folks mentioned Zymol on this board. The Zymol bottle claims it is the highest selling premium wax. I've never tried Zaino but from what I have read it seems like more work than I am used to doing on for waxing. I have a black SE. The car looks great after the Zymol wax. Like Zaino, the instructions suggest throwing some water on the car the enhance the shine. I did not bother. The car looks good to me as it is. My 3 yo boy and 6 yo girl tried to climb up on the trunk and slid off because of the new wax! After I finish this bottle I might try Zaino, but this Zymol stuff is good enough for now. I tried a 3M wax before. I think the Zymol is a little better. In general you can't go wrong with the stuff they sell at Costco because the seem the carry the most popular brands. Zaino is mail order of course. Ultimately, it depends on how much time you have to spend on the car. I am curious to see a black maxima after the full Zaino treatment. I am sure it must look very nice.

1. Zaino is more work at FIRST but worth it;

2. Why do you let your kid on your car?

The boy loves to climb. He likes to poke his head outside the sunroof and have me carry him out. "Daddy when I grew up I am going to get a black car like yours". He sits on my lap and help me steer when I go from the drive way into the garage (never in the street). He loves all things about cars.
We drove this weekend to a secluded area to watch the meteor shower and we laid a blanket over the trunk so the kids could lay down and watch the sky. They were sliding off because of the wax.
I'll spare you the rest of my domestic stories, but if you can't have fun with the children why have them.

I got my Zaino in a couple weeks ago and the results after one coat are more dramatic on my sisters black Rav4 than they are on my sunlight sand maxima. Click on my homepage to see pics. i don't know if it's worth the trouble and money for all that though. But I know one thing, ZAINO smells gooood! My cousin said he felt like drinking it but we know better.

I use Zymol myself and although it probably doesn't shine as bright as Zaino, you can't beat the Costco price and it also serves as a cleaner since it's a cleaner wax.

I used to use Zymol and it did the job just fine. I was satisfied with the results and was a lot cheaper than Zaino, but once I finished the bottle I switched over to Satin Creme made by Pro Wax. It takes a little while to set like Zaino, but the results are amazing. I have a light colored car, so I'm sure that it's harder to tell the gloss finish, but the smoothness is remarkable. I have yet to see someone's car who uses Zaino in person. I want to use it, but heard that it wasn't so good for the car in the long run. I don't know if that's true or not.

Zaino

I'm with LeoB. I tried Zaino this spring and it has outlasted anything else I've used. Also, I'm on my third black car, and Zaino keeps black paint looking cleaner longer than other products - doesn't attract dust, leaves less rain spotting, bugs come off easier etc.

This said, it's still a matter of opinion if the cost is justified. If you haven't got the bucks for Zaino, companies like 3M, Meguiars, etc. make some very good polymer based products.

We use Turtlewax..err it's okay...I guess. Very smooth finish, lasts 2 weeks...gonna try Zymol. Zaino just takes so much labor and with a white car no one could tell the difference...

All of the extra steps for Zaino is up front. After the initial work, maintenance using Zaino can't be beat, not to mention your arms won't be worn out after each use.

Honestly though I actually like putting alot of work into my car, I'm 16 and enjoy it. I mean don't get me wrong Zaino did make it shine, but I think the effect is more noticable on darker cars like you all mentioned. Thanks for all the help though!

Y-Sleep: Thats so sweetBut honestly the little tikes I know actually are trying to be car freaks like me! When they sit down they always stomp there feet and keep it on the rubber mats! They always are there to help me wax my car and stuff it's so rewarding! However I can't exactly say I would want one of my own!!! They do care about cars more than my parents though...

I am scared of Zymol over the long run because it is a cleaner wax...generally cleaner waxes are more abrasive and take more of the clear coat off with each application than do polish polymers like Zaino.

I am certainly sticking with Zaino...it looks good on my dark car.

Here are two pics of my car after my first Zaino application a couple of months ago:
