I'm still debating b/w the two ...

HKS exhaust is about $412 shipped 2 Canada! Gr8 price! But for just an exhaust? I like the look better b/c it's less rice & I think it's quieter or at least deeper sounding. It's also stainless steel which is very necessary in Toronto. The drawback is that it doesn't clear the Stillen body kit very well (from a prior post) & will melt the kit ... can anything be done about this?

The Greddy is a full catback .. prob about $550 shipped 2 Canada (total guestimate based on current price of the unit & an estimated price of shipping). It fits perfectly with the Stillen kit .. so it won't melt the kit ... but it's ricey looking .. I don't like big bore exhaust tips ... & it's definately louder & probably raspier ... n e thing raspy is ricey 2 me .. & it's not stainless steel .. rather aluminized metal ... which may rust!

Your opinions would be very appreciated!

Flip a coin...

But since you need SS, why not buy y2kse's (unless he sold it already)? I'd go with GReddy, but that's me.

Power

Get the system that is going to give the most power beyond your current system. I would like to see before and after dynos of both units? The way I look at it is if you are going to pay $400+ it had better give some real power to the car.

I don't think that it will ... one of the import mags several months back had shown the HP & torque gains with the HKS .. it was about 5 hp & 4 lb-ft torque ... it's more of a cosmetic upgrade in my opinion ....

I never saw the HKS with a Stillen Kit.
If you have a pic post it and maybe then
I will think differently. (doubt it )
But as of now I like the Greddy better.

Go for the Greddy.

Re: Re: Power

5hp and 4lb/ft torque seems pretty good for the HKS. Has anyone seen the dynos for the greddy cat back? I wonder how the dyno curve would change throughout the RPMS with either of these systems?

if you are going to do exhaust, then go for the GReddy.
not to discredit HKS, but it's better to go full cat-back then just getting a muffler.

Maxin & Irvine ... I understand this is a loud set up ... but what kind of loud ...

I just installed the Cattman Y-PIpe & I luv the deep grumbling growl that I now have ...

Now, I've seen other big bore exhausts on Civics, Accords & older Jettas .. but they have this high pitched raspy noise that sounds cheap ...

Does this big bore system sound like this? or does it continue to make the grumbling growl that I've grown to luv!

If I'm not mistaken, though, I believe that ~5hp gain was due in part to a custom B-Pipe that was manufactured by HKS specifically for that car.

I'm getting the Greddy, cuz I believe there will be a definite increase in power {according to previous posts}. I'm going to dyno my car now b4 installing it, and then do so again afterward in order to see what kind of gains there are. I don't mind the HUGE tip.

By the way, the Greddy muffler IS Stainless.... it's just the piping that is mild steel.

Re: Greddy EVO

That sucks that the piping isn't SS as well. Why they didn't do that is beyond me??? Bascially living in Canada those pipes won't be much good with all the snow and salt/sand they use during the winters. I'm looking forward to the Greddy Full Cat Back dynos for sure!

Hey, I totally agree with you, i want the greddy but i don't like the muff. . .from what i hear, it's 3 inch pipe, and most is only 2.5 and might have to get custom muff. I'm not sure on that, that's just what I heard.

HKS is just as loud if not louder that the GReddy muffler...The GReddy muffler is also SS...the rest of the catback is like you said aluminized metal. But for the extra few bucks you might as well go with the entire catback. GReddy is reputable company when it comes to their parts and I think it would be a better investment for you. I just got mine done about 2 weeks ago and I love it. Check my homepage, I have pics of my GReddy catback install while nmy car was up on the lift.

The hks will clear the stillen kit. The 5 hp and 4 lbs came just from the muffler. It's suposed to be nice and quiet( which i like) and it looks good.
The gready most say is really loud and should give you a few more hp. but i don' tthink anyone has dyno'd.

I say get the hks and get a custom b pipe made. Could do all that for what the greddy is.( probley)

Looks better to me also. Those coffee can exhaust are so played! It takes away from the car also. How many aftermarket exhaust do you see made for Porsches, MB, and Beemers have a big a$$ 5" single tip? Always notice that it will be a dual tip and rolled at the end like the HKS. And it does not sound like you took Catalytic converter off either as does the Greddy!

Greddy

The Greddy EVO is not loud at all it doesnt have that
no cat sound and I think the big tip is just fine. Its
your personel choice what you like and not what anyone
else says.
