Driving my 2001 MAXIMA GXE through one (1) New York Winter lead to paint damage as a result of road sand after 10000 miles. Most damage can be seen on the lower door panels and the lower wheel wells. I brought it to a body shop but they said that it made no sense in repainting without replacing the splash guards. Anybody know of any longer/wider splash guards that I could install without being an eyesore?

I don't know if they make longer splash guards for a normal car, but I know that for the AE, they are longer and wider, not to mention body colored. The only thing is, the AE ones are made to mold around the aero kit, so if you were to install them your car, then you would have to find a way to fill the hole. Or better yet...add the kit to your car...of course if you have the dough.

I live down here on LI and I have the exact same wear pattern, only not as bad. I bought a simple set of straight plastic splash guards at the local auto barn made by Groboski.(never heard of them either)Called "superflex 11x8" They have "no drill connectors" or you can use the existing holes.
If you mount them carefully you can hang them about 4 inches lower than the stock pieces, which I took off, and they look very unobtrusive. BTW, Are you getting that repaint done under warranty? If so, I need to contact you with some questions because the Nissan inspector denied my repaint recently, and needless to say i am ****ed off and looking for info to feed the 1800nissan1 complaint line.

I thought about just buying larger flat splash guards available at auto parts stores and match up the edge to the factory splash guards, some how mark the holes, drill holes into new splash guards and mount them on top of the oem ones. Basically making the oem ones have a tail down at the bottom. Maybe even hot glueing them together so it looks like one piece. I haven't done this yet... Procrastination... Still haven't learned after 5 yrs in college...
