Ack, Nissan does it again. They're gonna stick the name of a kicka$$ ultra performance sport car on a mid-class luxury car. Too bad most Americans don't know what a Skyline is, or they'd be offended too.

I personally prefer that they don't ever bring the real Skyline to the states. That way, the 5 or so Skylines that people paid $100K+ for are still rare and exotic. I'll get mine when I'm 40 and making some real money.

it's a skyline...

but it's the new sedan that was introduced in Japan (r35) to replace the r32. It is not the skyline gtr - which at this time will not be introduced in US though rumors are that it may come over as an infiniti to be an Acura NSX fighter.

I think that it should be interesting. If you add a turbo or a supercharger, since it already has the 3.5L engine, it should be pretty fast. It has almost a 50:50 weight ratio and is supposed to be a BMW 3 series, IS300 competitor. Just be interesting to see what the price is.

Price is est. at 28-34K. Last I heard{last week} is that the new G35 will have 280 HP and a 6spd and the weight of it is 3200Lb's, this formula makes it a very fast car. It should be good for 5.5 0-60 and 14.0 in the 1/4 mile. This car is definatly one to keep an eye on.

The next Skyline = Infiniti G35. The next Skyline GTR = ???. No one knows yet. No information on the next GTR has been released yet. Too bad most Americans that actually know of the Skyline think Skyline GTR's are the only Skylines.

I don't think the Maxima will ever be discontinued. As long as there's Nissan, there MUST be Maxima. The next 2-door car Nissan will be offering will be the new Z and it looks like it will be their only 2-door. As for models discontinuing, all of the current line-up will most likely stick around.

Sentra vs. Civic/Corolla
Altima vs. Camry/Accord
Maxima vs. Avalon

Just look for Nissan/Infiniti to add cars to their line-up. (HOW MANY FREAKIN' MODELS DOES TOYOTA HAVE??)

Skyline GT-Rs are the only Skylines that we care about. The other Skyline models aren't anything special, so people don't even consider them when they mention Skylines.

Sorry but that car is already old news. G35 Infiniti is the new Skyline. Please look there already hitting the dealers as of now. And its not called the Skyline here. It was the XVL concept which now is the G35.

Yeah, It's like Mitsubishi calling their 2002 Mirage "Lancers" now. They're just the regular model not the kickass Evo.

Right on! They think they can pull the wool over our eyes? For the average consumer, maybe, but not us forum dwellers! Information is power!!

Actually, it's not so much that they are trying to fool anyone... they are really seeking to import the Evolution VII to rival Subaru's WRX. They renamed the Mirage in an attempt to streamline the process. I heard that the EVO VII should be here next year in limited quantities.

I'd be interested int he Skyline. A four door sport sedan that is set to compete against the BMW 3 series in handling. If you add a supercharger or a turbo, it would probably do 100 in under 5.5. With mild boost, it would probably be able to get 350hp. Just wish that the styling would be a little more similar to the proposed GTR with wider fenders and a more agressive front end.

Yep I love everything about the new Skyline that I've heard about (performance, technical stuff, etc.). But damnit the styling could be a little more unique, that new Cadillac CTS and the G35 look pretty similar up front. But the Infiniti won't turn any heads while the Caddy will turn plenty. What Nissan needs to do is get some cars that are radical in design to attract more buyers to them. Q45 selling 800 cars per month while Lexus sells 2,000. Lexus has their reputation down, while Infiniti still searches...they need some attention directed at them. My $0.02
