New Skyline...US-bound?
#4
Ack, Nissan does it again. They're gonna stick the name of a kicka$$ ultra performance sport car on a mid-class luxury car. Too bad most Americans don't know what a Skyline is, or they'd be offended too.
I personally prefer that they don't ever bring the real Skyline to the states. That way, the 5 or so Skylines that people paid $100K+ for are still rare and exotic. I'll get mine when I'm 40 and making some real money.

it's a skyline...
but it's the new sedan that was introduced in Japan (r35) to replace the r32. It is not the skyline gtr - which at this time will not be introduced in US though rumors are that it may come over as an infiniti to be an Acura NSX fighter.

I think that it should be interesting. If you add a turbo or a supercharger, since it already has the 3.5L engine, it should be pretty fast. It has almost a 50:50 weight ratio and is supposed to be a BMW 3 series, IS300 competitor. Just be interesting to see what the price is.

Price is est. at 28-34K. Last I heard{last week} is that the new G35 will have 280 HP and a 6spd and the weight of it is 3200Lb's, this formula makes it a very fast car. It should be good for 5.5 0-60 and 14.0 in the 1/4 mile. This car is definatly one to keep an eye on.

The next Skyline = Infiniti G35. The next Skyline GTR = ???. No one knows yet. No information on the next GTR has been released yet. Too bad most Americans that actually know of the Skyline think Skyline GTR's are the only Skylines.

I don't think the Maxima will ever be discontinued. As long as there's Nissan, there MUST be Maxima. The next 2-door car Nissan will be offering will be the new Z and it looks like it will be their only 2-door. As for models discontinuing, all of the current line-up will most likely stick around.
Sentra vs. Civic/Corolla
Altima vs. Camry/Accord
Maxima vs. Avalon
Just look for Nissan/Infiniti to add cars to their line-up. (HOW MANY FREAKIN' MODELS DOES TOYOTA HAVE??)

I'd be interested int he Skyline. A four door sport sedan that is set to compete against the BMW 3 series in handling. If you add a supercharger or a turbo, it would probably do 100 in under 5.5. With mild boost, it would probably be able to get 350hp. Just wish that the styling would be a little more similar to the proposed GTR with wider fenders and a more agressive front end.
