I use 93-94 octane (Sunoco and Exxon usually, sometimes shell or mobil) regularly...However, I noticed there are differences in the performance of the car when using different brands of gas...

Does anyone else have this experience? Which brand do you feel gives the best performance for your car? thanks.

Arco runs great for me, (it's also the cheapest in town for premium), but my second choice is Chevron.

Mobil is usually ok,
I don't trust 76 or Shell,
I never go with non-name brand stations.

performance wise

76 with pro power is the best, better acceleration, throttle response and mileage, but techron cleans the engine, but it makes the car lag. try both and you will see the difference, i can feel the power from 76 but i can't see the cleaning power from chevron. just my opinion. used to use chevron, but now i have changed.

yea

thats what i heard about 76 gas from some people on the board , but from what i've tried it doesn't do anything bad to my engine, no knocking, pinging or anything. and i thought all gas was the same, other than the additives so i don't know what to believe. but i switch around gas anyways so its ok.

the reason i asked is that i read that not ALL gas is the same...someone correct me if i'm wrong here:

the performance of a brand of gas depends on the original ditillation process involved, where the (the "lower vaporizing") vaporization temperature of one of the components affects the overall actual effectiveness of the gasoline.

Well, actually YES and NO. All gas stations get the SAME gas from a supplier (whether it's 89, 93, etc.). What makes them different is what additives and detergents the gas stations themselves add to their gas. At least this is true for the North Texas region.

Here in Georgia…

I had three maxima's and all seem to have more Horsepower from Amoco Super Premium, but Chevron w/ Techron is right there with it.
Kind of hard to pick a winner here because both are great!!

Re: Here in Georgia…

Best gas companies for the max would be mobile or exxon.

my car runs best with these two companies.
I put chevron in my car once and it hated it

been experementing

I've been experementing lately. I used to use exxon religiously. here are my findings: exxon/mobile gas= blows thru car like bad taco bell, shell= best performance/extreemly high prices, chevron= right behind shell in performace/price comparable to exxon/mobile, local municipal airport= 148 octane airplane fuel/$3.24gal/WWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!. anything else is watered down dino ****.

Personally, I have only used that 148 octane gas in my lawn mower. I don't think I would have the guts to put it in my car.... yet An old friend of mine put it in his truck, That sucker would let out a wail like a banshee in full heat that was just blue balled.
