uh-oh.... check engine light

uh-oh.... check engine light
My check engine light is on for some reason. It happened this evening when I left work to get something to eat. I think I know why though. This morning it was rainy and the roads were slick. I took a turn and gave it about half throttle coming out of it. I ended up spinning my wheels all the way through first gear before letting up off the gas and letting the tranny shift into 2nd. Also, this afternoon, I got some wheel spin from a dead stop. I shut the car off shortly thereafter, but there was no light. I am guessing this may have caused it to trigger. I drove the car about 40 miles with the light on, but there was no noticeable difference in performance at all. The battery is unplugged now... hopefully it will be gone tomorrow. Any other ideas why it came on? I don't want to face nissan service....

thanks man.... if it is the O2 sensor, it is probably the rear sensors.... thats why no performance hit. I really hope it's not though. I can just see the dealer laughing at me for trying to get service with mods

Heck…if you still got warranty on the car and, yes , you've paid for it with your car payments, then by all means take it in. Could be something minor. You pay good money…get your benefits with warranty work!!

well, I hooked up the battery and started it up this morning.... no light... drove with it 30 miles to work.... no problems at all.. So, I guess something triggered it yesterday.... but no problem
i maxx.... i would take it to the dealer if it was serious, but they would blame it on mods.... and I really don't have the time to haggle with those guys on getting work done...

My 5th gen ignorance is laid open for all.....bill99gxe
I apologize for my stupidity.
No screw to reset?
WTF?
How could an ECU change THAT much with no significant powertrain or feature additions?
Just for that, all 5th gens should be Minimas.....that's ridiculous.

hmmm... i have no clue what it could be I unplugged the battery again for four or five hours. I started the car up and drove away. No light, no problems. I shut the car off after driving 40 miles or so. Then when I started it, the light turned on again... If it was a bad O2 sensor, I should have gotten the light while driving perhaps.
