Turbo Maxima's

I have a question about turbo Maximas. They are V6's but single turbo? So you only have an exhaust manifold / turbo on 3 of the cylinders and the other three just have a normal header/exhaust manifold? All of the V6 turbos that I see for Mustangs and other domestics are twin turbo V6. I was not able to find a single turbo V6 domestic out there.

I can imagine that it would still work but sounds "unbalanced" to me. Is this how TurboMax's car is setup? I was trying to find a writeup on the Eibach turbo max but could only find a few pictures of the engine bay, nothing detailed.

Can anyone shed some light?

I've only heard of two turbo'd Maximas (not including Forcefed's twin turbo experiment). The Eibach Maxima and the "Woodchester Collision" turbo Maxima. Never been able to find specs on either one.

speaking of Turbo95Max...is his car almost done?

How is TurboMax's enhaust manifod setup? He only uses one turbo right?

young1976 Sep 23, 2001 04:41 PM

I would say probably placing the turbo after where the y pipe of the two banks meet somewhere under the engine bay. Custom y pipe...

The exhaust manifolds route to one pipe. Yup, single turbo.

this should clear up some confusion...

here is a v8 single turbo diagram.

There is also one in Houston at the Import Show. My friend got pics of it, so maybe if I can get them from him to scan, I will put them online.

You mean the Import Expo show on Sept 22? Ack, I missed that show cause I was sick. I'll be ****ed if I missed seeing a turbo Maxima!

Turbo95Max Sep 25, 2001 12:13 AM

Grand National's are single turbo V6's and are friggin fast...
Im running a single turbo setup. Realistically speaking, a single turbo is enough...why go twin when you dont need to? espically on a stock motor you wont even get benefits of twin turbo...

oh
the buttface said he sent my fuel rails 2 weeks ago and now i cant get a hold of him. SO i ended up calling for a used set at Autogator, Mike felt so sorry for me he gave the rails to me for free.. anyways, the Trans is here but i have a feeling the car wont start...electrical prob.

*Cry* Please post pics or let me know where I can see pictures of the event. I'd like to see the Turbo Max in particular, but anything from the show would be cool. Did you go?

Jeff92se Sep 25, 2001 04:03 PM

Reply to all except Turbo 95.

mofos still trying to iceskate uphill I see.

Turbo95Max Sep 25, 2001 04:36 PM

i dont think everyone will understand that Jeff...haha

anyways, someone metioned to me that i should do a sequential setup. I belive if you size your turbo properly, you dont need a sequential setup. There are Supra guys that dont like the sequential setup. Some opt for a single turbo upgrade or twin turbos but same size.

I'm almost certain the Woodchester doesn't have turbo ... I had it brought up for our 2nd meet in Toronto ...

The Woodchester Maxima doesn't have a turbo? Maybe a supercharger at least? I know it races. I saw a score sheet where the Maxima placed 62nd in a race. The winner was a Corvette. I've also seen pictures of the Woodchester Maxima, and the pictures were labelled "Turbo Maxima". Could be wrong, maybe it just has an S/C or nitrous?

How do you mean you "brought it up"? Do you know the owner or have connections to Woodchester Collision?

The Woodchester Maxima races in the Motorola Cup. From what I understand, all participants of the Motorola Cup can only use genuine OEM or stock parts to boost performance ... therefore ... only genuine Nissan parts can be used ... therefore no turbo, SC or NOS.

Woodchester Nissan is in Mississauga, Ontario. The GM of the dealership that I bought my car at agreed to have that Maxima appear at the second Maxima Meet I organized in Toronto.

You have to hear that thing! It's the most aggressive sounding Max I've ever heard!
