Odd occurence

I was just sitting around and I heard an alarm going off. I didn't pay attention til it dawned on me that it might be mine. I went outside and my alarm was going off. The alarm is Nissan. No one was around, but it did take me a minute to get outside. Both remotes were located where nothing would put pressure on them and set it off. The map light was on inside the car, I am just wondering if the alarm will go off if the light is left on? I thought the only way it went off was if someone opened the door from the inside after its armed or if someone forced opened the door. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the alarm going off for the light. If I am wrong about the reasons the alarm would go off, then let me know what the deal is.

Even if you left the map light on doesn't it turn off after a while? Mine does. Also Could you have left the door open?

When the factory alarm goes off, the interior lights come on. At least that is what happens on my max when I set the alarm off. Safety feature. If someone broke in your car and is still inside, then you can see him with the lights on. Now if this is not normal for both of our cars, then we have some major problems. But I'm pretty sure that is the reason.

I wonder if Nissan covers haunting under warranty since they don't seem to cover anything else. I know the dome light normally turns on, but I guess I left the map light on and it just happened to be coincedence.

same thing happened to me.

i left the map light on, the one up front, and i forgot about it. the alarm came on , i turned the lights on on the car port, and i went outside and i saw no one. so i went back in. this happened two more times, before i went and sat in the car to see if the idiot would come around, but when i got in and closed the door i realized the light was still on and i concluded that it was kinda like a feature so that the battery doesn't die or something.

At least I don't have to fight Nisan over my haunting warranty now. I checked the car today for damage and there are no marks anywhere. I guess its just an aggressive feature of the alarm. I did the same thing though, waited outside for a bit and kept looking out the window. Oh well, at least I know now.
