Transmission slippage?

Hi All,

I was wondering... how would you know if your transmission is slipping or not?

I did notice that at one time or another i hear a "whirr" (same sound u get when u rev @ neutral) when the auto kicks from 1st to second. Probably for a second or less. Is that considered a slip?

Also, when crusing at 60mph or so and i press the accel a bit, the transmission seems to hesitate a bit and sometimes act like it's hunting gears. Is that normal?

Thanks.

from what you describe, it sounds like it may be slipping. If the engine continues to rev during the shift for a noticeable amount of time, then it is slipping.
