2K2 Maxima 1/4 time
I finally got to run my 2K2 Max SE at Firebird. Unfortunately I was only able to do one run as my Maxima experienced a little problem, the service engine light and the a/t check light both came on. After I did my run it felt like my transmission broke. It was like driving a car with a worn out clutch, the engine would rev but car wouldn't move. I brought my car to the dealer today and I was told my throttle position sensor is bad. I was also told that my transmission is fine. With my one and only run my stock automagic 2K2 Maxima ran 15.363 @ 89.29 mph. This is better than my old 96 Maxima GLE which ran 16.2 @ 82 mph (completely stock).

Maxracer27, sounds like you could break into the 14's with just a little help!

As a matter of fact, MrBurner has an automagic with almost every mod available and the best he turned was 15.5.

I can't wait to see what the 6-speed with HLSD can do!

Yep, you definitely hit SAFE MODE on your Max. I did the same thing when I test drove one the other day...trying to get my Alty Watch. The sales shmuck didn't know what to do! So, I disconnected the battery and it was fine. Go figure???

aAHhhh so it was you that caused a fire at the strips last time.. i heard about some crazy car with gas shooting all over the place and som crazy sparks from under the car ignited the fuel that was spraying all over the place.. but then a chunk of metal flew out and made it over the 1/4mile mark going at 14.6sec.. that was impressive.

Those are descent times. I think the auto will shine best from a roll.

What if Nissan can now control how hard you drive before the ECU goes into "limp-mode". This might be the start of some VERY bad things to come.

I had my left foot on the break and right on gas....rev the engine to 2000 rpm then go. I also had gear on 1st. There was too much wheelspin when I launched it. With the right rpm I could have ran better. And when my car broke I wasn't sure if I was past the 1/4 mile mark.

We are talking about automatics here. If we get into 5 speeds, we can bring up Larry J., who ran a 14.38 with his 2000 with Y pipe and CAI. So, this ET is the best 5th gen NA automatic that I know of.

BTW, this is not a 1970 Dodge Dart, with the newer engines there is very little break in needed, most expects say 500 miles is all that is needed.

Most people are in that 2.3-2.4 range. 2.7 is quite high. You must have been either spinning your tires or coming off the line very soft.
