Prototype calipers

A few months back I saw a porche race car with a set of prototype calipers that wrapped the whole way around the disk then it would squezze the whole disk giving alot shorter stops and less wear and tear. unlike the calipers now that only go on part of the disk and squeeze that part. Did anybody else see this? Or does anybody know if there is somwhere I could get them or if there out at all yet. Im sure there not but they where great.

ive never seen this before. Ive seen cars with Dual calipers on the front. How would a caliper grab at all points of a rotor? i cant imagine that....anyways, there prolly isnt beneficial cause you would juss lock up your tires too easily.

it was posted a while back.. adn the thing is cool.. it says the brake master cylinder will be alot smaller, works with abs, and runs cooler.. and last the life of the car.. will be put in the shelby or something. but i'm not sure on what car it'll go on.. but i sure wish i could get a hold of them for our cars.

Turbo 95 it's already in use and when i saw it the guys said it was working great I think but don't hold me to it that it's a large circleular piston on each side that grabs the whole thing. At some point most cars will prob come with it like 10 years from now...and i figure it will take over the after market 5 or so years from now. I just wondered if there where exusive apps and if i could get my hands on one.

Does it grip on just one side or both like the calipers now?

both.. it works like a clutch. think of the clutch plate as a rotor, adn the fly wheel adn the pressure plate as the brake pads

interesting....

if any can get anymore info id like to check it out. It still seems like it'll be too strong for the tires, Unless there is a huge advancement in tire technology in the next couple years. So everything is closed off to the atmosphere? if so i dont think it would be such an efficent setup.

Anyone wanna try a set of S0-3's? i got to try some of those last weekend. Youll slide off the seat before you can make any kind of squealing noise from the tires..

how in the world would it run cooler? there'd be very little venting right?
anyway, i like looking at my rotors. with full calipers, it would just look like a drum brake up front.

It don't like like a drum brake at all in fact it's nice looking. And they do run cooler somthing about a vent built into the caliper or somthing i think they also require or at least use slotted roters.

well i'm guestimating that instead of the rotor being the part that cools off it's the caliper and pads.. larger surface area for contact better heat dissipation or something.. id idn't build it.. but it looks awesome and i want it. just like everything else shiny. i want it all
