What is BEST Spring & Shock Setup for 5th Gen?

Hey guys I would like to know what the best spring and shock setup is for our 5th gen. I want good performance but not a jarring ride under normal driving situations. I've decided to keep my max and make it a project car and wait to get my BMW 330i next summer when my options vest. Thanks in advance.

Hmmm

I know this has been hashed and rehashed a hundred times...but here are my two cents.

Go with the progress or B&G springs. They are less harsh. Go with koni shocks.

I personally like the H&R best. Excellent springs....keeps a nice comfortable ride but improves handling big time and high speed stability!

What should I expect to pay?

What will the H&R springs and Koni shocks run me? Where is the best place to buy them and what does the install cost? How much will they drop my car? I don't want much more than a 1-1.5 inch drop.

That just shows there are lots of "best" and it's personal choice? I am going to have to add shocks and springs and brakes and corners and pipes and intakes when I have the time (and money).

Except you'll still have the larger gap in the front.

Re: What should I expect to pay?

H&R F=1.4" R=1.3" There is a little wheel gap in the front still but no biggie. They are very well balanced between comfort and performance with a half decent drop IMO. I left mine stock since my car was so new but I would go with Koni once my stock ones die. With a FSTB, RSB and some nice tires you will be flying in corners. Assuming you go to that 3.25" midget.

I think he means that the front gap is larger than the rear gap to start with, and the Sprints will give a uniform drop, leaving the front larger than the rear.

Hey DMan_2KMax, I am glad that you keep your max, I think you have a hell of a car. I personally will go with Eibach & Koni very soon.

cheers

I say H&R and Koni. The Eibachs are lil too rough and the H&R are a lil lower. I still like my Max to be comfortable.

Which would giev a better ride,

H&R/Koni or H&R/Tokico?

Wouldn't the Koni's give a little more stiff ride?

Konis are stiffer than Tokico

but Koni lasts much longer

Hey PhatGuy, I believe you live in Ottawa area right ? Watch out for winter with the H&R, might just be too low and cause you some problem.

cheers

Ya I should be ok. The H&R are low but not that low. I just bought some nice rims for winter and getting some H rated winter tires. If I didn't live here I would have the Stillen Body Kit already installed! The Max would then be the fly looking snow plow.

if u dont mind losing a lil ride quality, i say go w/ Progress...they look better than both h&r and eibachs, but dont ride as stiff as eibachs but are not as comfortable as h&r, supposedly....i didnt change my shocks/struts but i would prolly go w/ konis

Im not sure about shocks/struts but I went with Progress springs..If you go w/ eibach or H&Rs you will probly NOT be happy w/ the drop.I would suggest sprint but Ive been hearin once you go to 2in or more your more likely to need a camber kit. and also I hear the sprints are a little more harsh. you can get the progress for about 150 shipped from pmpdesings@aol.com...by the way the progress drop is 1.7
