PIAA

JSangha, where did you buy your PIAA H4 Xtremes? What did you pay for them? I went to the local performance shop and their prices were $75/pair. Just need to know if thats how much they cost over the net I will get them from the local shop.

Yes, the bulbs are tinted blue, but emit white light. They are supposedly the closest in color/Kelvin temp to HIDs.

Yeah the xtreme whites a really white with a slight blueish tint. I like them a lot, especially over the stock bulbs!

Does the light from the PIAA's look as bright as the 2K2 HIDS? I know up close the HIDs look much cooler, but for night driving, which shine brighter and look clearer?

Response to GhettoMAX

GhettoMAX,

I got my PIAA Extreme Whites from auotbulbdepot.com. I paid 62.95 plus S+H for a pair of the H4s. Here is link to their site for all the bulbs they have for the 5th Gen Max:

http://www.autobulbdepot.com/fr_prod...86107854110902

As for the side clear side markers the best price I've seen was on custommaxia.com:

http://www.custommaxima.com/GroupDea...perLights.html

$26 for front or back set, $52 for both sets but save on shipping.

As far as the look of the PIAA Extreme Whites go they are more white than anything. The guy at Autobulb Depot told me they matched the look of the Acura and Lexus HIDS more than those of the BMW, AUDI, Mercedes HIDS before I bought them. From my own experience they definately look closer to the Acura HIDS than anything I've seen on the road so far. They definately don't have that purplish/bluish tint like that of German HIDS. Hope this clears some of the mystery up. Just my $.02

I bought them at "Car Boutique" in Wheeling, IL for $73.00+ tax = $79.00

The reason I got them there is that they are real good at taking things back if I don't like them or if there is a problem with the item. I was told that these lights are warrantied for 1 year.

No halogen bulb will come close to the light output of real HIDs.

How long are these PIAA bulbs supposed to last? longer or shorter than OEM bulbs??? I might just wait til the originals burn out.

I think Kev said that his Super Plasmas were not as bright as the OEM Bulbs. For me the Extreme Whites were brighter than OEM bulbs. Kev has a comparison of the Fog HIDS vs Fog PIAA Extreme Whites. Here is a link to Kev's page:

Kev's Pics

I think the PIAA Bulbs should last almost as long as the OEM Bulbs as long as you're running the correct wattage and such.

Probably a little less but nothing major. I'm running PIAA H3s 55 watts in my low beams on my Miata (custom headlight/low profile setup)

Xtreme White Fogs Installed Too

Just finished installing PIAA Xtreme White H3 Fogs to match my H4 Xtreme White headlights. They look very nice & white.

I thing I noticed is that when I switch to high beams, the fogs get turned off, is this normal?

Regards,
Jay
