found possible cause of rattle in dash over bumps
I recently found out what was causing the rattle in the dash over bumps (at least in my car it was). In the engine compartment there is the brake booster vacuum line that runs from the booster to the engine. The line comes close to the nissan plaque riveted to the firewall. It seems that the line is hitting the plaque causing the sound. I simply loosened the compression clamp closer to the engine and rotated the line. Have not had a rattle since. Hope this works for you guys as well.

My current rattle is the metal trim-ring around my shifter. I put pieces of an old health insurance card in between the trim ring and the lower console plastic. This worked for a little while, but the problem is coming back.
Seems you can't just buy the trim ring, you have to buy the whole boot. At about 100 bucks.... frig that. It does drive me nuts though.
One of the other vibrations was caused by my Escort 8500 X50. The vibration of that thing against the glass seems to resonate pretty far.

Rattles
On my old maxima (1990) the best way that I found to eliminate rattles where I could was to place O-rings between the parts the screws held together, and used the o-ring as a dampener. As for other parts that were clipped on together sometimes I used thin foam weatherstripping where the clips were to isolate the plastic parts.
