just got my clear corners...
just got my clear corners...
on wednesday and I installed them yesterday. Pretty simple install. I have a tiny new scratch as well
I found it better to just stick the screw driver in there and place the towel underneath the flathead. But anyhow they look nice and I was wondering if it's illegal to use the stock bulbs that came on the car instead of the amber lights. That way a white light will shine instead of the amber light.

This has been stated before and I'll state it again. Plain and simple you can only have white or amber lights around the front of the vehicle. Let me say that again...white and amber bulbs only in the front of the vehicle. You can have red, amber and white bulbs only in the rear of the vehicle. One more time....red, amber and white only in the rear of the vehicle. I have had my clears in for 7 going on 8 months now and I have never been pulled over for the color of my bulbs (only speeding
). There you go. Thank you, drive through!!

Alrighty, I might stand corrected, it could be state dependant. I apologize for smarting off before, it is just that this topic has been covered before. Now if it is state dependant, then you will have to look into the laws that apply to your particuliar area. However, as I said before I have had mine in for 7 almost 8 months and have not been pulled over before. That is is IL, IN, IA and WI.
Thank you again...drive through!!

CLEAR CORNERS ARE ILLEGAL!!!!!!!
Forget about what the law says about white or amber bulbs for now...If it does not say DOT or SAE approved on the lens then the FIXTURE ITESLF is illegal!! But if you have the wright bulbs you will only get 1 ticket instead of 2 I guess

If you are talking about the side markers then as far as I know it does not matter. All they are there for is to let someone on the side of you know where your car begins and ends.(unless you rewired them) Blinkers do have to be either yellow or amber in front and red in back. But then again this is all IMHO.
P.S.
get PIAA Extreme's for the side markers, they look tight!

Clear side markers (from many earlier posts that I have read) are legal as long as you have an amber bulb in the front and a red bulb in the rear.

When I posted this thread, i must have missed this discussion about whats legal and whats not. I must have missed the times when this discussion has been brought up. I didn't mean to spark a debate or stir people up. I honestly don't care if the clears are legal or not, because fact is its my car and if it's illegal to have clear, if; then why is it that they are manufactured. Let me clarify, I know that i can't do whatever i please, and i follow the rules of the land and what i think is right or wrong in my own book. But if get pulled over and i am given a ticket, I am not going to whine about it or get mad. Some of you here told me the consequences and i already knew them and so I choose to risk getting a ticket. I was thinking the same exacact thing Newman96SE was thinking when i was messeing with the stupid sway bar. Anyways, if I angered or upset someone simply because i posted about a topic that has been discussed so many times i apologized. I didn't feel like searching through the org because i didn't have the time and i wanted opinions of pwople who have posted and have not posted about this topic before. I hope made sense. Anyways Thanks to all who have expressed there opinions and have posted on this thread. I always like hearing what you guys have to say. I learn a lot from you guys and I hope you guys don't mind me depending on you guys for further enlightenment. Thanks guys.
sorry,

1. What color bulbs are legal and where. This varies from state to state.
2. Use of not DOT approved lenses. Most aftermarket lenses are not approved and are illegal. They are made and sold because it comes with fine print that says " not for street or highway use" or "for show or off road use only" if not you can sue the company.
Bottom line is most cops wont pull over for non DOT approved lenses but if your caught speeding it must say DOT approved ON THE LENSE. Look at all your other lights.
Hey do what you want but know the law!
The clears are illegal because they don't reflect orange. A car must reflect on the sides, orange in the front and red in the rear. No matter what else you do, what color bulbs, this must be true. Look at any stock car on the road today in America.
However, cops 99.9% won't care as long as you have orange bulbs in the front and red bulbs in the rear.

In NY theyll probably pull you over for some other violation before ticketing you just for the clear corner bulbs and all. I got pulled over in Queens for no reason by some undercover cops...3 of em busted outta an old impala and im like WUTTT??? after seeing that I didnt steal the car, they gave me bs about not havin my front license plate on..i had clear corners too..but they didnt say anything about that.
