I had an accident with my maxy :( (pics inside)

hey guys, yesterday (oct 3rd) was the worst day of my life ....comin from school around 12 o'clock, I turned my head away and didnt pay attention to the road. I was lookin at some ricers' car...and before I turned my head away, the Chrysler 300c that was in front of me was pretty far away, and the last thing I remmember was seeing this big a** car right in front of my eyes. So it was 100% my fault. Everything is okay with me (thank God). besides the seat belt, its killing my shoulder/clavicle now, but hey it did its job so thats a good thing. Now I need to repair this babe. I was thinking about getting a new car, but nothing is going to be like my maxima, unless I get another one, but it'll be lil hard economically rite now....unless I had my parents buy it for me, which wouldnt be fair. Well anyways. I drive 2000 Nissan Maxima SE, i've been member on here for quite some time, its just that i dissapeared from here during summer lol. I need to know what kind of parts do I need?
1. Front Bumper
2. Front Right Fender
3. HEadlights (fog lights)
4. Radiator
5. Airbags
5. the whole frame up front that holds headlights/bumper
6. grill
7. and all the other things (pls name them if you think of something)
okay here are the pics

Also for my bumper, i'd like to go with 2k2 one, how is the installation on that? will I need to modify anything on it? I heard some stories about taking reinforcement bar off, if thats the case i'll stick with 2k bumper....I already had 2k2 headlights, so i'll prbly still go with those....AND IF ANYONE HAS ANY PARTS FOR SALE ABOVE...let me know...thx

and keep this in mind "you really dont value something until you loose it" i just realized how much I love this car, and I want to get it up to look even prettier then b4 ....i love this car

i actually had this deal with my insurance since i was 16 That i would not get into accident/speeding ticket for 3 years, and they'd give me like 1000$, and that was going to expire in July of next year...I guess i lost the bet

Glad to know u're doing well.

Seeing the damage and the age of the car, I wont be suprised if they declare the car totalled. Generally when air bags deploy thats the common path used.

How much of damage on the 300c?

The 300C's rear quarter is buckled, that's gonna cost some money.

yeah 300c wasn't damaged that bad, and yeah the rear quarter is what worries me, cause it cant be replaced, they'll have to do some work on there to get it to look good, but other then that it was all good....its just that my maxima was lowered on tein s techs and when i hit 300c, i sled underneath the 300c and thats why i have so much damage. If i was as high as 300c i'd be good now.....I don't know if its totaled, i'll see what the agent says when he/she checks the car out....
thx guys

your car is totaled. period.

airbags are 2k without install
new rad
all that body work
easily over 50% of the car's value. get a 5.5 if you had a 5.5 you might be able to have it fixed...and thats a big might!

sorry about your luck.

do you have comp/collision? I hope you do, because that would suck to start over from nothing. Glad to hear you're OK, I wish I had some better pictures of my 01 getting sandwiched between a parked DOT truck and a ford explorer on the highway @ 50 to make you feel better. (He hit me, and sent me off the road into the truck in an ice storm) My car looked like a "V" , and I had 2 others in the car, no one was hurt, the engine went under the car. So, it could've been worse, but good luck to you and whatever you decide to do....

I don't think it'll be worth fixing it, I think they'll claim it totaled too. Glad your okay though!

Once airbags are deployed on a car that old, it is usually totaled.. good luck though.

When this happened, it was over $13,000 in damage, and yours looks a bit worse to me:

The piece that the radiator bolts to is called the core support and if it's bent, like yours, you'll need a pro to replace it and pull the front frame sections straight. Not a do-it-yourself kind of job. Sorry.

I just did this job myself. I bought this stang for 3k and it looked like this except for the headlights which I popped in. Similar damage only not as bad. There was no core damage, at least not bad only bumper reinforcement was bent a little which we straightened by hand.

Before:

I did all the sanding and menial labor and I hired a friend for 1k to do all the painting, clear coat, bondo, etc, the stuff that requires a professional.

After:

The point I'm trying to make is this, total time spent was about 50 hours. Total repair cost was $2500.00.
I might add that nothing needed replacing except the headlights, headlight housing and grill. The bumpers and 1/4 panels we did not replace since there were no cracks.

You're looking at a job. If you've never done body work, it's a pain. And you always mess up somewhere. Goodluck.

Man, glad you're physically okay after the wreck. Sucks your car ended up like this, though.

Recalling from my past accident experiences, your car's definitely totalled in the eyes of any insurance agent. It doesn't look like you're claiming this against your insurance company, do you think this would affect the title of your car? Savlaged or Clear? Anywhom, this looks like a $3k job at the bottom end of the estimates. You might want to start looking for another max and part this car out for little extra money here and there.

If you're junking this car, care to sell me your black SE taillights?

The biggest concern in fixing it will be the wiring that goes below the top of the frame. There is huge wiring next to the frame, looking at the frame every wire would be smashed out... Not worth fixing it.

we'll just have to wait and see what happens...and yes I do have insurance, it is not full coverage tho ...I just paid off the car not too long ago, so I took my full coverage insurance off like three months ago...But even if I had full coverage, i'd get money for my maxima, but then my insurance would go really high, so its the same at the end. If it comes out of my pocket now or if it comes out of my pocket later (monthly)....But i hope its not totaled.
Tonyw - you are right about that bar, its broken where its screwed on the frame or w/e, so when i was looking at it i was worried about that the most....
i'll upgrade you guys on everything

thx again

Sorry to see that bro, but your car is definitely totalled. Airbags, core support, hood, bumper, fender, strut tower mount allignment, plus all the labor will do that. Youre better off parting it out and look for another Max, maybe a 5.5. Even if you fix the car up, you might run into problems further down the road due to the severity of the accident. Good thing is that you are ok tho.

Glad that you're okay. If you really insist on keeping it you might want to look up an autobody repair school and have them (students though) work it out for a fraction of the cost for labor and possibly get the parts on the org. If not you can find a similar one pretty cheap and get your mod on. Good luck with that.

Bummer man. Your car looked real nice too.

IMO, the car is totaled per insurance red tape. Getting that car fixed at retail prices will be the nail in it's coffin. On the other hand, the damage to your car is not so bad. Cut out the front core support, straighten the tips of the front frame rails, new hood, fenders, core support, bumper cover, headlights and airbags etc etc. Your car is not damaged that badly, I would bet some body guy would buy it at an auction and fix it up for cheap and put it back on the road with a salvage title. Anyways, I can tell your front rails are fine because your fenders are not pushed into your door frames. They may be ever so slightly tweaked but easily straightened.

The 300C looks worse than you may think. The reason I say that is because that car will be fixed, but it won't be cheap. When the rear quarter buckles, it sometimes means the rear frame is tweaked. At the very least the rear quarter needs to be replaced and the frame checked because I'll bet it is tweaked, just does not look as bad as your car.

If it were me, I would let 'em total your car then buy it back and piece it back together. But that depends on whether or not you have the time/resources to do your own work.

Well I have definitely decided to keep the car and fix it and hopefully sell it after or something. Just because every time I open my garage, it just hits me seeing my maxy sitting in there with this *fu**ed* up front, its really sad. I love this car more then anything right now (i hope my gf is not reading this thread hahah). But yeah I decided to keep the car and fix it. My parents will help me out with fixing the car, so it's not gonna be problem getting all the $ to fix it. Plus Iam guessing i'll learn something from it so thats a good thing too. As of parts, I still dont know whats that metal part called that holds the headlights/radiator/grill/front bumper....Right now i call it "front radiator support* and i've actually emailed couple junkyards, and they all have that part for my maxima. So i'll have to double check make sure its the right part.
I'll keep you guys all updated....if anyone knows the part number for that front radiator suppor or w/e its real name is pls let me know....

Huso
