I want to know if this is normal because i am gonna take my car in on monday and wanna know if other 5 speeds do this. When I have my car in neutral and rev it WOT a rev limiter kicks in at around 3500 rpms and then lets it shoot up to redline. Can someone rev there car in neutral and tell me if the engine shoot right up to redline? I dont know if this is normal or if my ecu is messed up.

Thanks a lot!! Let your car warm up first though 2 of my friends have 97 5 speeds, they do not have this problem and neither does my brother's 99 Auto.

 

Mine revs straight up, without hesitation.

yep it does, it doesnt seem like you have a prob....try to test drive over 5th gens see if they do the same. When you're in neutral, your engine is working under no load....of course it'll take just a touch of a toe to rev it up till the redline. BTW when you're going to the dealer, see if you want to remove that popcharger....some dealers may give you BS about modding...

 

i havent been to the dealer but i suspect they'll give me crap sooner or later.

 

I have all my performance mods off. Took the Popcharger off and had to send my y-pipe back to cattman. I think that the problem that im having with the rev limiter in neutral is related to my car fuel cutting at 6200 rpms in first gear. I dot know what is wrong with my car, I think I will take your advice and try another 5th gen speed out if I can find one!

 

yep but not 2002 'cause it has a different engine. My car is smooth at top RPM's but there's jerking at low RPM's, in any gear. Like driving 45-50 mph on hwy in 5th gear, let the accel. go and then just touched it, my Max shakes as if I dropped the clutch.
