4th gen OWNS jOO!

Well, the 5th gen is larger. The beam was reconfigured. The engine was revised. It's a substantially different car, yet based on the same "platform".

4th generation maximas have 190hp and the only exception to the 222 hp of the 5th generation is the 20th anniversary edition which they rate at 227hp with 217 lbs of torque. The fifth may have more power, but it a good bit heavier than the 4th's, but in turn and in my opinion handles much better in stock form.

yep, 5th gen is a few hundred lbs heavier..even a 30+hp difference does not compensate for the speed. 4th gen is 0.1sec faster than 5th gen, given similar equipment. But 4th gen is already a history, with mileage on those 4th gen they cant reproduce their original 0-60 in 6.6sec (stock)So, here we go..the 5th gen owns a 4th gen'ers LOL.

to all 4gen'ers: no need to hate. Your cars were new, now the spotlight's on us.

yeah yeah some of you here are saying that 5th gen has more power up at the top RPM....4th gen engines cant withstand all that now...fall apart due to natural wear and tear..

lol, actually at the most the 5th gen is 100lb heavier, thats it. Most cases its only 50lb heavier.

Hmmm...did you know they are the SAME engine blocks ? Did you also know our engine has recieved countless praises from mags for being one of the best V-6's out there. I have a max in the family with 169k miles, and it runs almost like brand new. The max, and basically any engine can be kept running tip-top shape if taken care of properly.

Next time think about the words that come outta yo mouth foo.

I really hope you're kidding.....the 4th gen that ran 14.8 in the 1/4 had 110,000 miles on it....and you're gonna tell me that with mileage on them they aren't as fast.....hey ask MAX2000JP about 5th gen vs. 4th gen with similar mods....I've raced his 5th gen MANY MANY times....go ahead and ask him about the outcome EVERY time....

I have ran many 4th gens with more mods than me, and I still beat them. So your phrase doesn't mean jack. Maybe he isn't a good driver compared to you? I ran 4 board members in one night, all within 20 min. No one took me except the supercharged one.

All I had was a Intake.

Russ come on quit making excuses, I know how to drive my car. Most of the times we raced it was from a roll. I didnt miss gears and shifted at redline and so did he. His 4th gen is simply faster than my car, nothing to be ashamed of.

Dunno till I get a good run in before my car breaks.

Like I said, I have 6 witnesses that night that saw me running them and they were all surprised. One of hte Maximas run mid 14s and I still took him 3 times in a row. We even did 1 or 2 rolls, I slowly pulled away.

Sorry but its still driver. The 5th gen has proven to be faster.

Dude...I've driven his car...and he's driven mine...and still with the same outcome...you can't say it's driver...my car is simply faster...I've run other 5th gens too...they were stock...and I pulled on them like mad.....Russ...if you were anywhere near Illinois...I'd put money on my car against yours....from a stop...from a roll...wherever....and where are these 6 witnesses...my witness has spoken, but mysteriously NOBODY is backing you up...

Kenneth, TheNewClimax, Maximus98, I can't remember the other names of the other 2. Anyways, post in the texas forum if you do not believe me. Also, maybe you have one of those rare maximas that is just stronger from the factory. My car seems to be one of those as well since i dynoed more than anyone here of the TQ reading.

Well if your car is a supposed "factory freak" then you competely dicount your statement that 5th gens are faster than 4th gens, becuase you have no basis of comparing the AVERAGE 5th gen the the AVERAGE 4th gen. If someone was able to compile data of all 4th gen vs. 5th gen races...and look at how they turned out on average then we would MAYBE be able to see which one seems to be faster...but the fact is that hasn't happened and it won't happen.

Russ its not the driver its the car. 5th gens and 4th gens are virtually equal in performance. Brian and I have raced plenty of times. The only time I beat him was when we were both stock. We were dead even till he missed 3rd. When I went to the track i ran a 15.3, not a great time but the conditions werent ideal and my cars rev limiter is messed up. Brian got in my car cause he had been to the track before and he also ran a best of 15.3. My car has the potential for high 14's, but I gotta wait till spring to test it out.

oh screw you, what do you mean by "like new"? check the compression on my NEW Max with only 19,000 miles and your old 169,000 mile motor. No way you are to have the same compression level as my engine, unless you had rebuilt yours. It is like you arguing that the engine will be "new" forever. Friction causes a wear of inner parts, thats why people change pistons, piston rings, etc. Who da fool now, dummy?

I am siding with Craig here. The VQ, VG, VE are all strong engines. I have seen people test their compression on the VG, and VQ as well as the SR20DE in the SE-R. When new, and when 200k of miles. They still read within the NEW average rating of #'s. The VQ and VG can go over 300-500k of miles without needed any type of rebuilt.

Remember Don? The fastest Maxima, runs 14s off engine with NOTHING done internally? He has over 110k on his Maxima. Let's now go there now

You have already shown your stupidity...so go away.

I agree that these are great engines, and still have the same level of compression even thru 200K mi. There maybe other means to check the performance of the engine, besides the compression levels. No way anyone would convince me that engine with 200K miles on it can be compared to a new engine. No need to hate here. All Maximas are great cars.
