How do i clean an apexi power intake? Please read.

Hi,

I have a injen cold air intake on my infiniti i35 and i used the apexi power intake as the filter. since i brought the filter i have yet to clean it. How do i clean the filter. Do i buy the k&n filter cleaner or do i have to buy another filter which i do not think i have to. I proably put like 10k on the filter. any help would be great. Also, the only reason i did not stick with the injen air filter is becasue i have to apply oil on it. I did try the aem dryflow which was a great product but the apexi makes a nice deep sound. thanks

The filter is good for 25,000-35,000 miles, then you get a new one.

Yup, you can't clean the filer - you just have to buy a new one after the above miles.

Yeah, I would just get a K&N to be honest with you. The difference is nominal, but it costs a lot less, and you can clean it. I had an Apexi when they first came out, and noticed no change when I switched.

LOL....weapon R = foam filters, which have been tested to be the worst quality when it comes to filtration. Yes you prob would make an extra 1HP, at the expense of sucking in more dirt...

I wanna say on cardomain.com in the parts section they had the filters for like $50, but now I see that they dont even carry apexi line of products

apexi filter is a paper filter. they filter the best. they are worth the extra money. all other brands mentioned should not even be considered. oil kills your maf. dont be cheap buy the apexi.

Yea, i'd stick with the A'pexi. The A'pexi does flow more air than a K&N. it's also interesting to note the A'pexi creates a unique vortex effect, espcially above 3k RPM. (although it flows air smoother, the throttle body and plenum negate any effect). Keep in mind to that if you switch to a "cleanable" filter that over oiling it will ruin an MAF.

Don't hold me to it, but I also believe it saved my engine. i drove into too big of a puddle, and the filter was able to keep the engine from sucking water. It actually got so wet the engine bogged b/c of a lack of air, but I didn't even ruin my MAF.

i agree that the Apexi is better but...be careful with that statement. there is no proof that a properly oiled filter harms the MAF.

Yes the K&N has proven to be reliable provided it is properly oiled and cleaned.

F*** the engine, my maf is OKAY!

i heard apexi, as many have said here, has the one of the best filtration, and the best airflow. depending on the price, you might be able to justify the cost. i would personally get a K&n cuz of the price.

I you have big pieces of debris in between the pleats use a painters brush and brush them out. I wouldn't reccomend using air to blow from the inside unless it's low pressure cause you could damage the filter.

Good quality filter, way easier than a K&N to maintain, and much cheaper than the Apexi.

FYI guys, I don't know from personal experience, but I have researched the APEXI vortex filters (power intakes) quite a bit. They are expensive, but they certainly look worth every penny. In fact I have an Injen intake and when it's time to replace the filter, I'm going to see if I can get an adapter to put one of the Apexi filters on.

"The dual funnel Power Intake evolved from the highly successful Super Intake. Subtle refinements in the design and filter element resulted in a 10% reduction in pressure drop. Utilizing an upper and lower funnel, the Power Intake reduces air turbulence within the filter and creates smooth air flow into the throttle body. The Power Intake is a maintenance-free dry-type air filter and will alleviate the problem of filter oil from wet air cleaners interfering with the air-flow meter. Accept no imitations."

You clean the filter by buying a new one.

Or get a JWT filter. Better than all the rest and can be cleaned.
