anyone with a spoiler and digi cam...Help! please.
I recently had my spoiler painted and i want to mount it, but they are qouting me too much just to install it. Try $700, $600, $300, $200. Thats way too much money just to install a spoiler. I am thinking of mounting it myself and so i went to the local dealership and asked salespeople if i could check out a couple of maximas with spoilers. One salesman poped open the trunk so I could see where the screws are for the spoiler but it had a cover and i didn't want to take it off since it was anew 2002 max. All the other maximas had no spoilers. So I am asking if any 2000-2002 owners that have a digital camera can take a few pics of there spoilers so that i can get an idea of where the spoiler aligns to and where the screws are under the trunk. i have an idea of where one goes but the other i have to clue. The spoiler I got is an exact replica of the OEM spoiler and i got it from E-bay. If anyone can help i would appreciate it. If not then oh well, i thank you anyways for reading my post and none the less i hope that i may be of some help to you today or in the future. I have a digital camera so if any on you need soem kind of pic i hope that i can help. i am hoping to get my spoiler on by Friday since that is when my vacation is over. Thanks in advance, and take care.

One of my friends had his painted and installed for $150.. But he has extra holes and screws rolling around inside the trunk lid and the spiler seems crooked from certain angles..
Since your's is painted already, they shouldn't charge more than what my friend paid..
Those prices are just outrageous!!!

Thanks Serin for the advice. Yeah the spoiler came with some gaskets but i think i am going to have to use some anti rust compound around the holes if I decide to do it. The gasket have some tape strips on them and i am not sure which way they go. I wonder if the strips go againsts the spoiler or the trunk.

My factory wing was stolen off of my car and I replaced it with an ebay spoiler. I got a painted one and the body shop I took it to installed factory spoilers for the nissan dealer nearby. They qouted me $65 for an hour labor, and only charged me $60. The wing was a replica, so they had to drill new holes and splice the brake light into a taillight, but still just $60. You are getting ripped!

I just talked to a good friend who happens to be a supervisor for GEICO's adjustor total loss division. He said in the Mitchel Book it says .5 hours for mounting the new wing. Since they have to drill holes he would pay 1 hour tops. 1 hours shop rates are only like $60.00 tops. If it needs to be painted the paint time is 1.5 hours plus materials. Paint hours are only like $38.00 an hour. Knowing this, you can go to a shop and tell them to look it up and you'll be happy to pay that rate. Basically it's $60.00 out the door if it doesnt need painting. If it does then $140.00 plus materials (170.00 tops) out the door. 99% of the shops go by the Mitchell Books, They should have no problem doing this for you if you point it out.
Merry Christmas!!

Good looking out Jeff. Thanks for the info. All these shops here though are money hungry and don't care, at least the bodyshop I went to cause i told him that the dealership charge me slighty less and he said take it to them, they'll do it for you. Oh well. I'll do it myself. I've gotten alot of good info, so wish me luck. Thanks for all your help.
