5th gen, Nos for Traction Control
5th gen, Nos for Traction Control
Out of Curiousity, what happens if your running with the traction control on, and you spray nos and you get wheel spin.... the way the traction control works on the 5th gen (dont know if this applies to the 4th gen or 3rd), shuts off fuel to the cylinders making less power to the wheels, and if the nos is sprayed and only a couple of cylinders are working, will this cause any damage to the cylinder walls/pistons?
This is an EXCELLENT QUESTION, though I cant answer it for you, but I always though the traction control actually cut power to the wheels from actually cutting power to the engine, did not think it meant shutting the fuel off.

I get bored. Hogan do you know the answer?

hmm...I usually turn off TCS if the weather is dry night or day, 1st thing I do...well TCS and WOT wheel spin should remain rich so it should leave some room for extra oxygen molecule....obviously the engine wouldn't lean out....
-Logical enough ?

4th gen does not have traction control as far as i know.
and that is a darn good question
[/B][/QUOTE]yes they do, mine does (only 99s)

correct, that's what iwas thinking too.
UUMMMM!!!!!!
Well first I don't have a traction control on my 5th gen, so I guess it doesn't really matter for my car. And also if you hit the rev limiter while spraying the engine will not go boom, but your ecu will throw itself into a safety mode. All you have to do is turn the car off and then restart it. Believe me on this one I know first hand!OOPS!
Re: UUMMMM!!!!!!
You got lucky. IF you have everything set up right, then your window switch should cut off your NOS before you hit the Rev limiter, or, if you don't have one, then the fpss should cut off the NOS when your fuel pressure drops. But if you don't have either one, or they or not set up correctly, and you spray a shot of NOS through the rev limiter, expect to have some kind of damage to your engine. You may get lucky once, maybe even twice, but eventually your going to bend a valve or worse...
