I'm not sure if this applies to the Maxima but on older cars I've owned or driven in the past if this happened it was either one of two things. Either your brake pads needed replacing or your fluid level was low.
just fill that bad boy up with more brake fluid...or it can be that little stainer possibly fell into the tanks all you gotta do is pick at it with your nail and it will pop back up....happened to me after brake changes cuz dumb me forgets to check the fluids
hmmm, this just recently happened to me, my brake light has been on like this for about a week. I'm glad someone posted up about it. I'm going to go check my fluid levels asap. thanks folks.
I try not to refill all the way. That is one indication other than squal that you need brakes. If you fill it up all the way and you have 30% brakes when you run low you have no indication on dash.
So i try not to top it off too much as most of the times is light comes on when you need pads/discs.
