2000 Maxima Motor Mounts

Hey, while doing some work on the max I noticed that the engine has a lot of play when put in drive and hitting the gas with your foot on the brake. Moves a little bit when put in reverse, but not as much as when you put it in drive... I looked at the mounts, didn't see anything wrong on a quick visual.. How can i determine if the mounts are bad, and which mount exactly would need to be replaced? My Max has 200k miles, what's the life expectancy on these things? I have a slight knocking/tapping sound coming from under the hood, similar problem on my wife's ford turned out to be a bad motor mount...Please help, any advice is welcome... And does anyone have a link on how to replace the motor mounts?

if those have gone for 200k without a change, they are shot. most likely.

I'm not sure if it's a proper way for checking the motor mounts, but here's how I do this:

Put the e-brake all the way up. Put the car in gear and try to get it to move. At the same time someone should look at the engine block. If it looks like the engine is about to jump out, you need new mounts.

My 2000 maxima makes a buzzing noise 5 or 6 times when i shut the car off. I have read that it is the motor mounts because they are electronic. Is this correct and do I need to replace them now or is it just another noise I'm going to have to live with? Thanks

lash it round and round 10-12 times with 1/16th stainless steel wire and insert a long nail and twist it till she's tight it lasts long time for front motor mount tie downs. actually over 5 years now on my 89 max beater.

Unplug immediately. Prolonged shot motor mounts can fry your ECU.

Then replace them with manual ones. They are cheaper and you do not have to use electronic mounts.
