using race gas helps with staying safe and not pinging the engine when you have everything CRANKED UP

I haven't used the race gas but I have used the octane booster, which I certainly DID notice a difference when used. I think it was a 103 octane boost.

Yeah you wont benefit much unless your air and fuel mixture is correct.

I filled up 100 octane, but I also have all tuning devices and stuff so, it definetly gave me a kick in the seat.

I know a 76 gas station around here that sells for about $6.87/gal the last time I checked. How many octane is race gas anyway?

If the timing will advance far enough to take advantage of the extra octane, you might see some gains. Otherwise, premium works fine.

I looked this up a whiiiiilleeeee agooooo, memory is kinda fuzzy but dont you have to be runin atleast 11 to 1 compression otherwise your gonna run into problems?
I know a spot that sells in long island, SK speed in Lindenhurst. You can find it fairly common Theyre all over long island really theres another in port jeff off route 112. Be careful though some are leaded.

You're right, the F/I cars out there with good tuning devices and people knowing what they are doing wouldn't benefit from 100 octane gas...

And yes, I realize that the OP said a STOCK car, but just wanted to stat that^

I run it because i can run a more agressive tune. but also i have wideband o2's so it doesnt matter if my stock o2's dont work.

That crap didn't start with the ricers...sadly. Back in the early 80s, the same stuff was going on. 2 barrel carb, single exhaust and they thought they needed av gas.

A buddy of mine and I once convinced a kid to go to Super Shops (performance shop chain that went out of business several years ago) and order the big block valve cover conversion kit for his small block 350 (the valve covers are a lot bigger for those not familiar with Chevy engines). We explained the larger valve cover size reduced crankcase pressure which in turn reduced ring tension and increased power. Told him we'd already ordered ours. Next weekend when we were out cruising Central (God, I miss those days!), he flipped us off when he drove by.

You can get these morons who don't have a clue about cars to believe pretty much anything.

It depends, there is all different types.

100 104 110 114 116 120 just to mention a few.

Then you can mix your own "fuels" Toluline(sp?) mixed with an oil additive is 117octane which can be purchased from paint stores. I don't remember what it is but there is something else like Toluline(sp?) that you can mix with an oil additive that can also be purchased from paint stores that comes out to be 114octane.

and? the point is any race gas you would put in our cars wont hurt the o2's. if youre dumb enough to put in leaded, you deserve more than just the o2's to go bad

Dumb? I know im not dumb and i run leaded. It allows me to run more timing and a way more agressive tune.
