Problem with my max

Hey everyone, its been a while i dont post never the less I have been real unlocky with my max(stilllllll). Its winter now in montreal, this morning my car did not start!!!!! I started the car with my remote starter after ten minutes i came out the car was still cold because it didnt start and it was making a weird sound like something jaming which is made by the car trying to start. I tried starting the car but with no success, it was trying but looked like it didnt have enough power! So I boosted my batterie and the car started. I dont know what it is, I've had my alternator change 2 years ago and put a bigger one, the batterie is 2 year old as well. MAF is brand new had it changed 4 months ago, Ignition Coils are ok. Could it be the starter ? Could it be the time to change the timing chain (usually we dont have to change the timing chains unlike timing belt) ? I've noticed that there is some oxydation on my batterie negative pole, some blue powder perhaps i should disconnect the batterie and clean the poles ? Because when the car finally started I've lost my clock settings, radio settings ! what could be my problem other then having a Maxima ?

definately clean battery terminals and Ive seen batteries go bad in short time. Go to advance, auto zone get them to check your battery and alt. just to rule them out. I have also seen a battery have a dead cell wich will cause the car to start sometimes and other times not start.

clean battery terminals
get a new battery (Die Hard, not some cheapo or OEM)

did you get any warning lights? If the alternator is bad, you will.

shouldn't have anything do do with MAF, timing chain, or starter.....

Don't get OEM?

Also, DieHard batteries are the same thing as whatever house brand Walmart sells. Good info if you want the same quality, but at a lot better price.

I'm talking in terms of warranty though.....In any case, Die Hards have a good selection of available cold cranking power and sizes, and are good batteries which is why I suggest them.

Can't speak for walmart brands

as to OEM, why buy an OEM battery? Probably not as good, and probably costs 3x as much from Nissan....

Ah, I see what you meant. Yea, OEM will likely be...outrageous, at best.

What I meant by Walmart house brand == DieHard is that when I used to work for SAC (Sears), the batt truck would stop at Walmart (right next to us) and then drop off our load. They're manufactured by the same people, just rebranded (Sager/Alienware style).

I'm rockin an old DieHard Gold, before they updated the battery line (got rid of the Weatherhandler, switched to just 'DieHard', and introduced the gel cells). It's not too bad, but it's getting worse and worse with the relatively cold weather around here. It snowed for a bit in Pasadena...

if this is the first time it happened, it could be that you left somthing on like map light or dome light, or you drained the battery before you parked? do you have subs by any chance witout a capacitor?

didnt get any time to clean the battery yet, but i will definitely clean it out! But just to let you guys know the car is acting back at normal, I did nothing, i think the dirty batterie terminal is cozing all mayhem!!!! I got a check engine on due to oxygen sensor!!! So Im going to change it, I got a wird sound everytime i press on thruttle and break, like an alarm, I should try to record the sound, some people told me its throttle shuttle that makes that sound i doubt it, since the car has no been that sound before, its been a couple of months now, only code i get with ODBII is oxygen sensor!!

I can't help with the strange sound but as too Walmart's batteries - In Canada, at least in Ontario, Walmart sells almost exclusively Energizer brand batteries. I bought one for my Max last year after the Canadian Tire one gave out only after only 18 months of use. The Energizer is going strong after 12 months. I could have gotten a replacement under warranty for the crappy tire one but warranties on batteries are pro-rated. I wouldn't have gotten full price and I would have another craptastic battery. I decided to switch on recommendation from a friend. Its a decent batteries for everyday use.

test battery
check to see if there's a parasitic draw
use a meter, set it to current, connect it in series by removing one of the battery terminal
