Stock navi swap???
Stock navi swap???
Hey guys i wanted to know if the stock navigation can be swapped from a 2002 fully loaded maxima to a 2003 fully loaded maxima?? both of them are 6-speed.........
And if it can i just wanna no what it is that i need to do too make this swap possible??
Thankyou!!!

YOU'LL HAVE TO SWAP OUT THE WHOLE HARNESS TO AVOID THE HASSLE OF TRYING TO REWIRE EVERYTHING.
as long as you have a parts car that these parts are coming from, should be an easy remove and instal.
but as mentioned in other threads, you're better off going with aftermarket unit.
the only exception that i would see if the oem nav setup is free, then it that case nothing beets free.

It cannot easily be done.
You'll need the navi-screen unit, an auto climate control amp box (kinda hard to find), the tape deck, and the 6-disck cd changer (for cd's in the trunk). And a BUNCH of wires to be replaced or relocated. You'll also need to find ways to link some extra wires for the navi functions such as speed sensor, dim control, navi-sensor, and ebrake sensor, etc. Lastly, you'll need different headunit holder brackets plus a stock navi center vent.
I have just took out my stock navi unit, and converted all out for a Pioneer Avic-D3.
You're probably better off buying an aftermarket touch screen navi-unit, they do not have the flip-out cumbersome look. It is the easiest way to get through this project from a stock bose system. Only extra thing to buy is a GXE center vent bracket or some ebay's schoche's bracket cover. Hope I'm helping.

i would look into aftermarket units because the factory is CD based and is outdated and a few aftermarket ones are harddrive based which is much nicer. i personally like the look and asthetics of the Pioneer AVIC-D3. It has very simple, looks clean, and for the most part with the GXE trim kit looks perfect. You have to do some minor adjustments to make it work but its been done. Look at the .orgs Audio section and im sure you will change your mind and go with the aftermarket unit.

I hear what you guys are saying but i like the stock look its nice and clean and if i need to update the system i could use a disk from any newer model nissan/infiniti, and besides i have another car that has everything that i need............so are you guys saying this swap can be done if i have everything i need??
By the way, where are you planning to buy the harness from?
the dealership? (very expensive)
junk yard? (not sure if they would sell just the harness)
got a parts car? (best option IMO)
I am getting a bunch of pm's about this topic here. I am a oil field service engineer in the gulf coast region, so I do not have a set schedule time off to do a write up of what I"ve done to make everything work.
However, I will be attending a 3 month drilling academy starting in March. If I can slot some time to do a write up, I will try to. If it happens, the write up will be informal and lightly descriptive because I do not want to open things up again just to snap pictures and such.
I will say this first, the swap does require splicing about 15 wires or so (going from stock navi to aftermarket navi). And it does require a personel with slight knowledge of electronics because I had to use the 02 FSM el section a lot for wiring diagrams. I did also make an excel worksheet, so that'll give you guys a heand on this.
For those who wants to go from BOSE to stock navi,
You'll also have to have the same audio amplifier setup as the navi ones, that I cannot confirm, so that might be an issue there. You'll also need to find a way to come up with 3 advanced coding wires between the external autoclimate control amp and the navi unit. For my car that came with the stock navi, my wires were already there, and when I hooked up the after Pioneer unit, those wires were skipped, and my clocked got disabled...Reason is this: the 3 wires are these: Tx = Transmitter decoding wire, Rx = Receiver encoding wire, and Clk = Clock Synchronization wire. I still couldn't find a solution to make my clock work, yet. At the same time, my steering wheel controls aren't working either. I'm buying a PAC-SWI unit very soon to get that issue resolved.

ok, so im gonna have to change the harness even if i got both cars?? it's not a direct swap?? remember guys both cars are stock, stock navi fully loaded 6-speed------2 swap with another fully loaded 6-speed (no navi)

again, it is not a direct swap with plug and play connectors. The pluggs for the Navi are not there in a non-Navi car, hence why you would nee the whole wiring harness from that car or rewire everything by hand which is alot bigger job than you might imagine.
For the Bose equipped maxima's, you do not have the wires already there for the speed sensor, ebrake sensor, and the advanced coding wires aren't already there. The thing is, if you are swapping the whole harness sets over, you'd still have trouble finding where the sources of these sensor signals are supposedly connected to. If anything comes from the ecu, I do not know if you're going to solder in new wires or swap ecu and deal with immobilizer junkies.
Sorry, but I'm just pulling probable problems out of my azz right now. I know how to do the navi to aftermarket swap, but never studied to master the Bose to stock navi setup.
I hope I bought my FSM cd with me so I can look at the diagrams and tell you what you're dealing with. I worked in audio shops before and went to college and took some courses on actuators/sensors/electronics. So no matter how hard these things might be, I can come up with ways to overcome these obstacles. Only thing I cannot do is to override existing program related circuits. Thats all.
I remember when I did my swapping, I was slowly merging my setup into it, instead of doing everything in one day. I was pre-splicing wires and pre-setting things about 2 weeks before I got started with the conversion. A big research is needed because Nissan wiring diagrams in the FSM's didn't go that far in depth with the navi setup. Some of the linkages were missing when I was looking for it. So it took me a while to put the whole puzzle together and got the Pioneer unit to work. But overall, I did one run on the install and everything worked without a problem.
Just don't get the hopes up about converting BOSE to stock navi. Main concern is that stock navi wires are plenty to skip going to aftermarket. But Bose setup doesn't have much existing wires that stock Navi uses. Also I found the stock Navi unit to be using a lot of back up and redunant wires at different voltage levels. I'm not so sure if Bose setup also does the same.

Hey, what trim kit did you get for your navi? I got the scosche kit, and I trimmed it down to fit my Pioneer, but I over trimmed the size a little bit. I am planning on buying a new one, is yours already sized up like that? I'm kinda rough on trimming things out and stuff.

Anyways i will keep you guys up to date on my swap when i get started.
Great job figuring everything out. Is there any way I could get this info so I could do the swap. I'm in desperate need due to 3 of my climate control buttons breaking off of my unit. I would rather get an aftermarket unit and make it work then get another stock unit. Thank you very much in advance and hope to here from you soon.
