took out mass air flow sensor and check engine light went on!!!!!

i took out my mass air flow sensor so that my friend could try it on his max, he wasnt sure if his was broken, and we found out that his was broken after trying mine on his car.....
but when we put the mass air flow sensor back on my car, my car ran perfectly and the engine light came on
anyone know how to solve that?????

the mass air flow sensor is before the throttle body

Did you check your engine diagnostic code? It could be something like your air temp sensor, maybe you forget to plug it back in?

Check to see that all sensors are plugged in and tight. If it doesn't go away, then leave the battery unplugged overnight to reset the ECU. That should take care of it.

You only have to unplug the negative terminal, right?

Ok you've lost me here ... you said you took out the MAF sensor and swapped it around in your friends car, and returned it back to your car....

Did you make sure you re-connected everything.

Do you rpms stop @ 2500 ? If they do, you haven't connected the MAF correctly or have possibly damamged the MAF from swapping it into your friends car, and may have a short along the lines of the ECU.

Where are you located ? They can always run diagnostic to find out the problem, you might be charged, but should the code be caused by the intake, you might have a problem, so you should return the intake to stock if possible.
I'm located in Queens. Right off of Queens Blvd & Grand Ave... Any recommendations which dealer I should go see??

We will have a micro meet today on Franny Lew @ 7-11 just off the LIE. If you are interested we'll be there around 11pm.
Sounds good.. Which 7-11? right off of the lie, utopia exit?

An electrical problem of some sort in the other car may have toasted your MAF. This is why electrical parts are non-returnable. People buy them just to shotgun a repair and they can be damaged and are then unable to be retested when returned.
