service engine soon light is on .. help

whats up org. well ima selling the maxima but have an issue... the service engine soon light came up this weekend. when it did the car was hesitant at an idle and shaky when i revved it up easily. i revved it up high... around 5k rpm and the shaking and hesitant went away but the service engine soon light is still there.

just yesterday i was driving and i dont drive reckless i was i was driving normally and the car started shaking the light started to blink... i pulled over to side of the road and turned the car off for a min and back on... still shaky... revved her up and it was gone but the light still there.

I have a K&N air filter in my car and thats the only thing i have done to the car. any ideas why this is happening. im probably gunna end up getting it serviced but i like to know what im getting into before i go running blind with scissors ya know... help me

Does it only shake when moving at high speeds or all the time. Does it get worse the faster you go? Have you popped the hood to listen for any strange sounds?

nah it shakes at idle and low to mid rpms, normal driving rpms...
when i rev it high it goes away

my guess is one of the sensors or sumthin is messed up because when it runs normally no weird noises and when it shakes there is no weird noises still.

It's likely your MAS (Mass Air Sensor) Replace it with one for a 4th Gen. Oh and ditch the K&N they fowl the MAS quickly.

As for the 4th Gen MAS, I'm not going to tell you what to do with it to get it to work but this will be an excelent opertunity to learn how the search works.

Sounds like the Mass Air Flow sensor. I have an 02 Maxima. My MAF went out a year or so ago and I had the same symptoms. A Nissan dealer replaced it at cost of over $700.00! It did fix the problem but there are much cheaper options already discused in this forum. Do a search for MAF.

No DTCs pulled, no care.

PM me with the codes and I'll reopen the thread, until then, all this speculation is virtually useless.
