NEW Projectors with LED signals

Brief background...

I started this project over a year ago with the idea of getting rid of my plug and play HID kit in my 5th gen housing and replacing them with projectors. I didn't want the ebay projector housings and wanted something really unique and one off. So after a year we have this...I hope to have them put into the car next weekend. The led bar going across the headlight is white but seems blue in the pic.

yea I was going to do a project like this, but went 5.5 gen headlights instead, I may put projectors in the 5.5s and do something like you have here cause it looks really nice, reminds me of an R8 headlight

Well done, be sure to post output pics.

What type of projector did you use?

Now that is a tight headlight. Does the blue light blink with the turn signal too?? You definately have to post output pics and night pics on the car.

kudos for the job, though IMO a blue light there is a VERY bad idea....that'll get you in some real trouble if you accidentally leave it on and a cop sees you or something....

That, and it's super

I do like the turn signal though...the entire thing makes me think of "terminator" for some reason.

For some reason the camera makes it look blue but in person the light bar is white.

As for the projector...I went with an E46 bi-xenon not the best projector but didn't have the funds for the TL bi-xenons.

Looks great especially the turnsignal section. The only thing I'm questioning is the bar across the bottom but I've got to see them on the car first. It is another custom touch but it appears to make it too "busy" looking IMO. I see you mentioned the TL bixenons have you thought about the FX bixenon projectors? I've worked with them on a few retros and love how all you have to do is remove the shield closest to the bulb (not sure why its there doesn't effect shielding) and the output and cutoff are slightly greater and sharper.

Looks really good, looks to be a great alternative to the ebay projectors, and the costly 5.5gen headlight retrofit. I'll reserve judgment on the lower bar for when it's installed on the car.

I do have a few questions.

1) did you do all the work yourself
2) what was the cost or the parts
3) even though it was done over a year can you guesstimate how many man hours it took?

Thanks.

To make a guess, i'd say that the white balance on your camera would be set wrong, maybe fluorescent or something else, try adjusting that to make the color of the light bar look white.

but, the lights look pretty dang nice.
i am curious (as a few others are) did u do all the work or did u have a company make them?

Props on build. The new CTS has a led bar similar to your bottom blue bar. It is just vertical and past the turn signal. Anyways, great idea and execution.

I take it you have never seen the R8 headlights in person. They look nothing like that at all. These look more like the amber strip along the bottom of the Accord headlights to me.

We still need some on the car snaps so whats up?!?!?!

Looks good...very unique. I think the turn signals might look better had you placed the leds horizontal to match the white strip and possibly made both the same color

Damn tons of questions...I'll try to answer as many as I can remember as I type this response

1. When can we see installed pictures?

I'm as anxious as everyone to get these in but with work and no personal garage this realistically won't get done until the weekend.

2. How long did it take and how much?

I would say over a 100 hrs, given that this is a one off, I tried to limit my mistakes which included drilling too many holes(patched with JB weld), breaking the stock reflector(single tear), and breaking and melting countless plastic rods trying to make that damn white light bar.

Cost I'd say over close to $400, including the bulb holders, bi xenons projectors, testing shrouds, ballasts, paint, etc, etc.

3. Did I make these myself?
Yes!

4. Write-up...
Probably not happening anytime soon.
