Crappy roadnoise feature

this is kinda hard to explain but...
the 2k2 max's stereo turns itself up and down to accomodate for road noise caused by speed and whatnot--if i am eventually able to find an adapter for my steering wheel controls and new HU , will this feature (that i hate) still exist? in other words does anyone know how that feature works?
thanks,
matt

I think it has a mic hidden somewhere in the car that is hooked up to the HU... so no - if you change the HU it will loose this "feature". Good luck finding the aapter for steering weel control though...

can you purchase the steering wheel control from lets say DaveB or somewhere other than the dealer(devil)?

I thought the question was about making a stock steering wheel control work with an aftermarket HU...

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Can someone who has it tell if they can see a way to rig it on if let's say you could convince someone to sell you theirs?

Well, can't answer for the roadnoise feature, but I would imagine it does use some kind of mic to pick it up. Otherwise, ECU or something in the stereo is programmed for MPH/RPM/ETC?

As for steering wheel controls. . . If you have them and want them to work with your new HU, yes, it's possible (I hear) I believe Crutchfield sells a kit that might work, and I've seen others. And any GOOD hu install place can make it work.

If you want to install the radio controls in your 2000 Max, good luck. It requires a completely different dash harness and possibly a different hu. Not worth it, even though it is a fairly decent reach to the hu.
