Shift Knob Removal
What year is your car? What tranny? IIRC, the 4AT shift ***** are pretty tough, but nothing more than some elbow grease will get them out. Some people wrap a towel or rag around it and use some pliers or channel grips. Not sure about the 5MTs, but the 6MTs come off really easily.
grab a shop cloth or towel, wrap it around it and use big channel lock pliers to twist it off if it is seized. Most likely this removal will chew old one apart. if it rips rip it of completely and underneath the rubber there is the nut that threads onto the lever. then it's easier to come off.
- Go to the stealership
- Drive to one of the bays right before they close
- Ask guy to remove **** for you for 20 bucks
- Slip him money when done
- Take skirt off
- YOU screw new **** on
- Drive home
- ???Profit???

if u dont plan on using that old shift **** again..just take the channel locks straight to it, lock it on and lefty lucy until it breaks loose and unscrew it. the oem shift **** is glued on, so i had to do the same when i replaced my oem one with the A.E. shift **** i have
yeah, you will have to use some kind of channel locks or something. It took quite a bit of effort, but it'll come off. oh, and your old shift **** will still be usable, it'll just be scratched up a lot.
