check oil level. It may need a new chain tensioner. It probably seized failing to put a load on chain. Either way you wanna fix ASAP.

as stated above, check your oil level and/or timing chain tensioner.....don't go buy a new engine just because you head a noise

I think there is a buletin for 3.5 vut for start-up though 2 seconds... Can't remember if there is any for the 3.0
tensioner is internal.
Side cover has to come off and if it is coming from timing chain area, you need a good inspection after side cover comes off,inspect/replace timing chain guides (slippers) tensioner etc. just to give you an idea
Get it looked at by someone though

the thing is all of a sudden it started making the tic tic tic noise like marbles are rolling around behind the timing chain cover .....I that likely to happen if the tensioners are due to replace ..??? or the noise would start to get louder and louder as time go by...???

ok I have a oil consomtion problem so with tha in mind I've decided to change my engine i found one with 77,000kms on it and I will also do my clutch while I'm at it

I will be doing the job myself ...so my question is is it easier to drop the tranny and engine then seperate it to do the clutch reassembly and put back in the car ...???

^ It's a loud ticking sound. It's just like chico said, it sounds like marbles rolling around. Mine just started making this noise 2 days ago and its astonishing how loud it was. I had never heard it before, but i knew it had to be timing chain related based on what people have described on here. I have a mild oil consumption issue so I added about 1/2 qt. of oil and it seemed to help a lot. It's hardly there now. Time to do some on the subject.

Does the noise go away as the rpms rise? If so, excellent odds it is the tensioner. Had the same problem with the V6 626 I had. Sounded awful, almost like an engine knock. When the timing belt was replaced, there was 2" of play in the belt.

I hope its not a timing chain that sounds like an expensive job.
