Not feeling them. I've always preferred the stock look. I love those bored days when you just wanna do something to the max. It's your car, keep up the modding!

New pics daytime with the lights on and clear sidemarkers... These bulbs are still regular lights with autozone gels on them, I'm waiting on the superbright red LED bulbs to come in the mail. They should be MUCH brighter and redder. I am 99% sure I'm going to put a very light coat of nightshades on these tails, it should make them look much more normal.

any pics of the process of opening them? was it origionally shining on the inside or did u put someithing in there to make it look more whiteish? i think a little nightshade would look good too.

the inside is all chrome, 2 thin coats of diffuser "privacy" paint from home depot on the plexiglass replacement lense was all it took.

I didn't take any pics of cutting it apart.

I'm working right now on finishing this project off. I'm painting about 1/3" around the rim where you can still see the dremel marks a flat grey then putting 1-2 very light coats of nightshades on the entire tail light. I'm hoping it'll look alot more "finished" this way.

If I get a ticket for it, I will get some red reflector tape and put it on the bottom of the bumper.

so the clear tails are that dam important to you???

and FYI, there is a distance above the ground requirement for the reflector...you will have to put the tape ON the taillight

Not quite feeling it. But to each their own of course I would like to take apart my tails to re-do my red tinted turn signals.

I'll take it back off afterward lol. It'd be much harder going back to stock without buying a new set atm, anyway.

Why do you have such a E-Mom hardon going about this?

1. You've already stated that you don't like it
2. You've already stated that it's illegal

Now that your mission is accomplished, you can get off my nutts and back to your wannabe mod post policing duties.

It's not your car, and for all your infathomable wisdom, you aren't going to make me run out and buy a new set of tails.

Clear tails

The are deff illegal but I doubt they'll give you problems over it. Although now you have a quick reason for them to pull you over.
As far the look ill pass but it comes to opinion so to each his own. I don't get the big deal about the 00-01 se tails either. I think people like the concept that they are SE LIGHTS rather than how they look.
Ill keep my Gxe tails thanks. On a black car they look freshy fresh.

I think nightshades can only improve at this point. I will reserve judgment until the tint goes on. Just curious--why the privacy "fog" spray? Why not just a clear lens?

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see you were "clearing" it on the 2nd attempt. Press on and update pics when finished!

Be very careful opening them up, the dremel can leave some nasty marks since you're cutting through clear plastic to get them open.

BTW new update to this project. I'm kinda tired of messing with it and have some stockers on the way in the mail.

Here's some pics of how they look right now. I ended up getting the paint code for sterling mist instead of polished titanium, so they're not quite color matched correctly

I literally cracked them bishes today.

Sprayed some black on some red tails though:

Red overlay is going on this light.

If you open them up again or if anybody else does get some good pictures.
