OE Spoiler Question

My car did not come with the oe spoiler, i can buy a OE one pretty cheap, my question is, do i need to drill ? is it possible there pre marked under the paint or under the trunk lid? just like to know if its a pain to do.actually i dont even know if it had one before, i found out that the rear bumper , front bumper, both doors in the front , the glass and who know what else was all replaced, There is nothing in the car fax on this. i had it at a body shop to get some paint on the rear and i found out from the guy that works there, good friend of mine. should i do anything about it or leave it as is, is it possible thats why even with new struts and springs, the ride still seems very jaring ?

GLEs did not have spoiler as standard equipment

you have to drill holes

a good spoiler comes with a template for hole drilling

Yes you need to drill, but it really that bad.

How I did it:

I laid the spoiler on the trunk and centered it. I had a friend hold it while I took a dry erase marker (or a wax pencil, something that you can rub off the paint) and outline the 3 stands. With the outline complete remove the spoiler and lay the spoiler down a table with the 3 stands pointing up. Take paper and trace the outline of the stands and cut them out be sure to also make the holes for the locations while you are drawing the outline. Finally line the cutouts up with the outlines on the trunk and tape them down, and start drilling.

Thanks for the quick input, i recently been dumping alot of money into the car and iam enjoying it ^^,what about just getting a trunk lid with one already on from a salvage yard ? minus color mismatch it should be the easiest way

you need the replace those ugly wheels (that look like hubcaps) that were standard on early 00 GLEs...i had them on my old 00 GLE and hated them...found some cheap 16s that were standard on later GLEs
HUGE improvement

don't buy a trunk with the spoiler on it already, unless you can get it for less the 120 I wouldn't. putting a spoiler on maybe scary but its easy

i been saving for wheels, did not know what people where talking about when they said hub caps but now i get it, they do look like that, once i darken the tails tomorrow and get the spoiler, <oe with led light from work for $219> it will look nice, I did notice under the trunk lid that there is a plug there already wired for the 3rd brake light, if i wire up the spoiler one, do i have to remove the one in the window or just leave it ?also what are your thoughts on how everything seems to have been replaced.

^^^^Def check out Ebay first Prof, you should be able to find one a bit cheaper. You'll have to drill but as far as I know I don't think its that hard to do.Do you plan on painting it yourself?

Nah i got a good man to paint it for me, said he had to run my vin because there is not a single sunlit sand color, there is variations he said, he did my bumper perfect, Ill let him do the spoiler also. Iam not scared to drill but weary because its the nicest car i own. i dont want to have the drill to walk and gouge the paint Iam doing the tails today, ill post pics later when i get time of before and after.

The way most chicks "fix" up their car is by keeping it stock and put stuffed animals by the windows.

I bought a stock spoiler for my GXE. It came with a drilling template, instructions and cover for the original third brake light. Dealer only charged me about $75 to install it but I'm sure they didn't know what they were getting into. No doubt, they'd charge a few hundred if they had to do it again. Call around and get the best price.
