An Old Problem Revisited

Hi everyone,
So I think I posted here a month back or so about my 00 max that was having some idle problems. To summarize briefly, the car would idle really low with tachyometer going up and down plus/minus 100 rpms from the norm, which is around 600. Sometimes, it would even stall. This happens ONLY when the car is warmed up and usually after 30 minutes of highway driving.
I just found out that this idling problem occurs at the same time the dual fans starts to spin. It makes sense because after 30 minutes of highway driving and then coming to a stop, the engine would be hot. Fans would kick in since it's no longer air cooled. When the fan does kick in the needle would react in the manner as described above.

Another detail, and I don't know if this pertains to anything, but the alternator was replaced by the nissan dealership right before this problem started. Recently, I found unplugged electrical cable which goes from the alternator to another device right below it. I dont know what it's called, but its got a metal shell like the transmission. The coolant line seems to be going in there too. Anyway, i plugged it back in thinking it was the problem, but it's not. And it was running fine without that being plugged in for the last 3000 miles so idk.

So with these new info, maybe you guys can help me narrow it down to the culprit.

Sounds like a classic 4th gen ECTS issue. Perhaps they are beginning to fail on older 5th gens now

Search ECTS in the 4th gen forum, there is a lot of info in there. Easy and cheap to fix. Mine did not throw a code initially, but it did act the same as yours until one day it threw a code for the ECTS. 27$ later and 5 mins, changed & fixed.

I will check it out. Thanks. One more question though, if the ECTS fails, wouldn't the car act this way even when it's not idling? What I mean is, if I periodically rev the car, theres no chance it will stall out.
