My son's 2000 Maxima threw the code PO 731 with the additional info of "Gear 1 Ratio Incorrect." A search of the forums revealed no results. I am suspecting a transmission output sensor malfunction? Does this seem likely? I would appreciate anyone's insight. Thank you!

 

Sounds like your transmission solenoids or the valve body to me. It's going to take dropping the trans pan.

He tells me he just notices a hesitation when he initially steps on the gas. And appears worse when cold. On the highway, everything is perfect. There are no other symptoms to report. Thanks!
