Nissan Original Hood Deflector

Morning all!

It just came to my attention, that the Nissan Original Hood Deflector, uses plastic clips and two screws to mount it on the lip of the hood.

Now, at close inspection underneath the clips, when I wiggled the clips off the hood, paint was missing where the clip came in contact with the hood.

Am I NOT suppose to remove the clips? I just wanted to remove the hood deflector for the winter.

Please advise.

Is that a defect subject I should bring to the attention to the dealer/Nissan Canada?

Anyone else have this problem?

Did you installed it by yourself? If so, you should have found 4 small pieces of 3M paint protector patches. These pieces are transparent and are designed to protect the hood form the clips. If you dont see them, then this is why the paint is missing. If you had hood deflector installed by Nissan, then it's there problem.

Good luck !

BTW I keep my deflector in place for winter. With all the stuff they use (salt, sand, gravel, etc..), you will find that keep your delfector is not a bad idea !!!

It was installed by Nissan! What color are the paint protector patches? I wonder if they will repaint the hood for free....

The patches are transparent (just like the ones used to repair pool liner), except that they are auto-adhesive. The ones that were included in the kit I got from Nissan were made by 3M. 4 patches, about 3/4 inch wide by 1 1/2 inch long.

Go to Nissan and ask to see the installation guide provided with the kit!!! I'm sure you can fight for something here !!!

Good luck!
