How do I clean behind clock glass?

I have a 2003 SE. The clock on top and center of the dash has a smudge behind the glass. How do I get it off to clean it? Thanks.

So there's a smudge inside the clock? Maybe like whoever put the clock in got their finger on it while installing?

the clock just pops out, pull straight up, then there are a few screws at the back of it to remove the clock from the trim. wipe out the trim.
